Outside the dorms, Sunday evening

Isabel had promised Greg she'd spend the day resting. So she did just that. After an afternoon of napping, and then changing the bandages on her neck, she brought her book and blanket to the grass outside the dorms to enjoy the last bit of the day.

Parker wandered by, and saw Isabel talking to Bel and playing with a ... fox? She blinked. "Okay, it's magic, right? I hope? Because otherwise, those things have germs, Isabel."

Isabel snickered. "It's magic apparently. You're not going to believe who it is though."

"John would be too easy. Bridge was just a ferret." Parker sighed, and folded her arms, studying the little fox. "Okay, too many possibilities. Who?"

"Jack apparently. And before you ask, I have no idea how. But he says it's not permanent," Isabel assured her.

Parker looked at Jack, remembered her theory on personality and the animals people turned into, and facepalmed. "Oh, Jack."

Jack grinned at her and reared up to put his paws on her legs, rubbing his head against her hip. //I make a very cute fox, though.//

She started laughing. "God, you're cute. This is ridiculous. Do you know if it's going to wear off? Can we undo it?" She paused. "Answer the first question, I forgot you can't exactly spell it out."

Jack dropped back to all fours and nodded, curling his tail around his paws, and laughing silently with her.

"Ha. Good." She studied him, then started to laugh again. "So cute. C'mere, you." She dangled her fingers toward him, grinning.

"I've worked out one yip for no and two for yes. It helps some," Isabel said. "How are you feeling by the way?"

Jack shoved his nose under Parker's hand, rubbing his head against her fingers.

"Sore, but I can move just fine, and the cuts on my hands aren't getting infected." Parker scratched behind Jack's ears, shaking her head. "Great. Where is he going to stay? You could stay with me, but Esme would scream, Jack. Loudly. It's not pretty."

Isabel laughed. "You're right. No opposable thumbs. He can't get into his room. I suppose he can stay with me for a while. Now that the kitties are gone, I don't have any animals he can terrorize. How about it Jack? Want to be my roommate?"

//That's what I said before.// He yipped twice and danced on his back legs. //Thank you.//

"I take it that means yes?" Isabel asked with a grin. "Okay, how about we head up now? Because I'm tired." She climbed to her feet and faced Parker. "I'm sorry, still beat. See you tomorrow?"

"Tomorrow. You, be good!" Parker shook her finger at Jack. "Nothing more complicated than this while you're staying with Isabel, please." She softened the demands with another head-rub. "See you later, Isabel."
