The gym, Sunday after cheerleading

As soon as the cheerleading practice is over, Aeryn's in the gym, cursing pretty much all of them silently just for being there. She goes straight to the bag, not worrying too much about gloves and figuring yesterday will have kept most people away from the gym. She's okay with that.

"You couldn't sleep in?" John says, wandering in.

"I had things to do," Aeryn answers, with a hit to the bag. "Like stand there for half an arn and wait for the frelling cheerleaders to get out of my gym."

"Your gym?" John asks, raising an eyebrow. "When did you buy it?"

She sighs at him, and hits the bag again. Because she doesn't have an answer for that.

John shakes his head and, feeling risky, grabs the bag she's wailing away on.

She finishes the punch because she can't not. "Spotting me?" she asks.

"Feel like knocking me around?"

"Most days," she lies, looking at him as if trying to decide if he's serious.

"Let's go then," John says, letting the bag go. "Throw me some gloves."

This isn't the first time he's offered, so she goes to the lockers, grabbing her pair and one of the spares. She tosses him one pair, and puts hers on. "If you're sure..."

"Sure as sure can be," John says and slides the gloves on. "Show me whatcha got, woman."

Aeryn raises an eyebrow at him, but moves away from the bag, towards a free area of the mat. He'll probably be seeing a lot of the mat.

John moves towards the mat, dancing and shadow boxing along the way.

"Want first punch?"

[can_be_more]

Yes, a lot of the mat for him. "I... have never been asked that question before," she says, guard already up just in case. "Someone just hits first."

"You can have first shot at me," John says, dropping his hands. "I'm feeling generous."

See, that would be why she goes to punch him in the jaw.
