2nd Floor Common Room Kitchen - Afternoon

May 17, 2006 13:21

Elizabeth was pretty much fed up of doing nothing.

She pulled out a folder of recipes, and having checked ingredients and *handwavily* buying what she was missing, she headed to the kitchen to hopefully not create a disaster.

isabel evans, sam carter, peter pevensie, willow rosenberg, 2nd floor common room, m parker, elizabeth weir, veruca cally, hamlet dane, samuel anders, paige matthews, bridge carson, buffy summers, jack harkness

Anders came bouncing through the doorway of the common room, grabbed the remote for the TV, and plunked himself down onto a couch.

"People! Why is the TV off? There's baseball on!"

"Hi, Anders. Nice to see you too," Elizabeth said, grinning. She didn't look across at Cally.

"Heya, Weir. How's it goin'?" Anders didn't waste any time turning the TV on and finding a game.

"Dodgers and Rockies? This could be painful," he said. "Oh, frak, and in Denver? If Penny's too excited to keep the balls down, they're gonna be taking him deep a lot."

"Fine, thanks," Elizabeth said, glancing across at him, slightly bemused.

She blinked at his commentary, trying not to think back to what Cally had told her. Because sports could provide a lot of double entendres.

"Sorry," he grinned, cheerfully oblivious (so what else was new?) to any information she'd gotten about his habits of late. "I sorta really get into the game."

Elizabeth coughed. "Yeah, Cally was telling me that the other night. It's nice that you're, um, embracing American traditions."

"Oh, man, I seriously love baseball these days," he enthused, bouncing in the seat a little bit. "Woo! Oh yeah, he got some good wood on that ball!"

"Who's your team?" Elizabeth asked conversationally, trying not to choke too obviously.

"I don't really have one, but I kinda like the Angels," said Anders. "No idea why except for my player's bias."

His eyebrows rose as a ground ball went flying down the fair-territory side of the first base foul line. "Whoa. Squirted that one right by the first baseman. Nice."

"Completely different side of the countty than mine, so that's fine," Elizabeth said, grinning.

She was not listening to the commentary he was providing. Really.

"Hey, all my knowledge of US geography comes from the Major League Baseball division structure," Anders said. Which, given that the Texas Rangers were in the AL West and yet the Houston Astros were in the NL Central, probably didn't say too much about his knowledge of geography. "I dig the Red Sox too, though."

On the TV screen, the player at the plate jackknifed back out of the batter's box as the pitch came in and almost grazed his chin.

"Dude!" Anders yelled at the pitcher, when his face came up on screen. "What are you pounding him inside like that for?"

"Good boy," Elizabeth said, grinning. "If you'd have professed a preference for the Yankees then you wouldn't have been getting any cookies."

She facepalmed.

"Dude," he said, looking appalled. "No way. I got a thing against pinstripes."

The camera cut to the runner at first, and he glared at the screen. "What are you standing on the bag for? Get into scoring position and he can drive you in easy! Gods, get past first base already, will you?"

"That's such a relief," Elizabeth laughed.

"You're, um, really, really into it aren't you?"

Anders grinned sheepishly. "I've been worse. You lucked out."

"Worse?!" Elizabeth asked, a mock look of horror on her face. "I don't want to ask, do I?"
