2nd Floor Common Room Kitchen - Afternoon

May 17, 2006 13:21

Elizabeth was pretty much fed up of doing nothing.

She pulled out a folder of recipes, and having checked ingredients and *handwavily* buying what she was missing, she headed to the kitchen to hopefully not create a disaster.

Cally yawned and wandered into the common room that was still right next door to her own room.

"Hello people!" Cally said, before eyeing Liz's open cookbook. "Ooooh, whatcha making?"

"Pyraniki," Elizabeth replied. "Cookies."

"What's in 'em?" Cally asked, peering at the cookbook. "Anything chocolatey or caramely?"

"Not these ones, no, sorry," Elizabeth said. "Honey, almonds, cardamom, cinnamon and ginger."

"Cinnamon and Ginger is good enough for me," Cally said. "Oh, erm, assuming you're not going to eat them all yourself or share them with Janet or something. I'm totally not a cookie stealer."

Elizabeth laughed. "Don't worry, I'll be sharing," she said. "And there's still the whole afternoon to go and enough ingredients for a few more recipes too, should I so desire."

"Ooooh, lots of cooking," Cally said. "Always a good way to spend a day."

"Beats sitting around doing nothing, or watching even more Z-Files," Elizabeth nodded.

"Yeah, I read through the entirety of Dickens last week. All of it. I'm definitely up for something more exciting. Possibly watching paint dry, even." Cally scratched her chin. "Maybe I can help?"

"You poor soul," Elizabeth said. "I was reading The Brothers Karamazov this week. I need new books." She reached for a cookie cutter. "Not for these ones, but thanks for asking. If you wanted to take a look through the book and see if there's anything with chocolate or caramel in for next, you're more than welcome though."

"Oooh, Medyanki looks good," Cally said. "But involves boiling honey. Which might be disasteriffic."

Elizabeth glanced across at the recipe. "Shouldn't be too bad. The honey will go in a bowl inside a saucepan. Same if you do if you're melting chocolate."

"Yeah, I make Anders do all the cooking," Cally said. "These hands are made for repair, not cooking."

"With my grandmother? I wasn't allowed to not know how to cook," Elizabeth grinned. "But on the flip side, I'm not exactly the person you'd go to for repairs."

"See, and it's good that people have different skills, cause otherwise they wouldn't be different," Cally said. She tapped herself on the nose. "And yet, I'm planning on going into dentistry. Cause I'm crazy."

"Exactly. We'd all be pretty boring if we were the same," Elizabeth agreed. She tilted her head curiously. "Dentistry, huh? What attracts you to that?"
