The gym, Tuesday morning/afternoon

Yesterday in general did a lot of good, and Aeryn's done avoiding things. And people. So she heads down to the gym, bringing her gloves and dropping them onto the mat in case she needs them, and ignores the punching bag for now. She doesn't actually need to hit anything right now. She'll go for the machines instead.

Rory wandered into the gym after fourth period, dressed in sweats with her hair pulled back.

She gave Aeryn a little wave, and wandered over to a punching bag. She gave it a light poke, wondering if there was more to this "beating up on crap to get rid of your aggressions" thing.

Aeryn watches her, and says, "You generally have to hit it harder than that."

"But won't that hurt?" Rory asked curiously.

She tosses Rory one of her gloves. "Not if you do it right."

Rory caught the glove - somewhat spastically, yes, but people should realy just be pleased she managed to catch it at all - and eyed it.

She tugged it on, and gently punched the bag. "Hmm. I won't hurt it, will I?"

"That depends if by 'it' you mean the glove, the bag, or your hand."

Rory raised an eyebrow. "I meant the bag, but knowing about the glove and my hand would be good too."

"As far as I know, the bag is the same I've been using since the beginning of school, so that's safe," she says, bringing over her other glove, just in case. She doubts Rory'll use more than one hand, but it's easier to make sure she doesn't try anything with the unprotected one. "The gloves keep you from hurting your hand, so you're good."

"But what if I hurt your glove?" Rory asked seriously.

"I don't think you'll hurt the glove," she says, just as seriously.

"But what if I hurt my hand and I bleedinate on it?"

"If you what?" Aeryn asks. Because "inate"? Not so much with the translating.

"If I cut my hand or something and it's ow and bleedy and red on your pretty glove?" Rory said, flailing a little.

Probably not the best person to be talking to when one wants clear English.

"The glove has seen worse days. You won't cut your hand, because the glove won't let you. You'll be fine."

Rory still looked wary.

"Okay. So...I just hit it? Because I really want to hit something, and I'd rather not like, hit a wall or something."

"Just hit the frelling bag, Rory," Aeryn says, amazingly still calm. "Keep your wrist straight."
