"Oo, Sparkle!"

Cecil hurried in, and unless Sparkle was fast, he was getting hugged. "I didn't think I'd find you before you left."

"Whoop!" Sparkle dropped the shoelace-stick and managed, barely, to hold his arms open in time to meet Cecil for that hug. "Yeah, I'm not gone yet. I mean, like, tomorrow, my portal leaves? So I've got one more night of bumming around this place before it's back to Toronto."

"We never did get to have that movie night at Kenzi's place," Cecil said. "So I guess you'll have to visit. But I didn't want you leaving without your going-away present!" He handed Sparkle a huge but surprisingly light package. "Just something to remember us by, you know?"

Sparkle blinked at the package, and then up at Cecil. And then he grinned.

"Whatever this is, it's going to be awesome, isn't it?" Well, hopefully, Knowing Cecil, just about anything could be in there. Knowing Cecil and Fandom combined, that anything might be some sort of flesh-eating tentacle creature. "And you know I'm going to visit, like, as soon as I can, right? Much as I'm convinced this place is out to get me, I'm going to miss, you know, the people."

"Well, I hope so?" Cecil grinned. "For both of those, really - the people and the present are both pretty great, I think. Go on, open it! Just be careful."

"Careful, huh? That just makes me worry, man," Sparkle laughed, carefully opening the top of the box.

And blinking.

And then cracking up.

"Oh, shit. Perfect. This is perfect!"

Glitter!

Cecil grinned. "Well, I couldn't let you go without any! Our reserves will last for ages, right? But who knows if you'll have enough in Toronto."

"You never know, right?" Sparkle laughed and shook his head. "I mean, I could be walking out of here right into the middle of the worst glitter shortage Toronto has seen in ages. Wouldn't that be tragic?"

"That would be awful, but now you can save the day!" Cecil hugged Sparkle again. "If you run low, just let me know, okay?"

"I totally will, man. Thanks." Sparkle gave Cecil a little squeeze, careful not to drop the glitter, and then leaned back again with a grin. "No glitter emergencies for me."

"We have to see our president is well prepared for all eventualities!" Cecil said.

"Even if I won't be president for long," Sparkle lamented. "What are you guys going to do without me, huh?"

Cecil shrugged. "Elect someone else, then complain about how they're nowhere near as good. Isn't that tradition?"

"It must be," Sparkle decided. "I mean, everyone does it anyway, right?"

And he could live with people pining for the good old days when he was in charge, yes.
