2nd Floor Common Room, Saturday Afternoon

Things were finally back to normal. If anyone asked, Ezra was going to very firmly claimed to miss this past week dearly. But in reality, even he liked being in better control of his feelings and his body. It had been a very nice week no doubt about that. But it was also nice to relax ( Read more... )

Hanna had been very relieved not to have to exhaust herself in running around the island, or finding ways to work out after last night, when the feelings wore off. Feelings. Sensations. Both.

On the other hand, it was a little-- awkward, to see a boy she'd been kissing on Wednesday again. Was she supposed to mention that? Not mention it?

Easier to start with, "That is a great deal of candy to eat by yourself."

Ezra was not going to be awkward at all! Because he'd kissed a lot of people this past week. He didn't have the time to be awkward around all of them.

Also, he didn't do awkward.

"Is it?" he asked with a grin. "I don't know, I have a pretty big appetite."

This seemed like flirting, but Hanna wasn't totally sure. Still, she made her way over and sat down next to the pile of candy, smiling back at Ezra. "You will be sick," she said with certainty, then paused. "Well, perhaps if you pace yourself...."

Even Ezra himself wasn't always entirely sure whether he was flirting or not. It happened kind of automatically with him. It was as much his language as sarcasm was some other people's.

"I don't know," he said, giving the pile of candy an exaggerated critical look. "I'm kind of bad at controlling my urges. I overindulge."

"I could help?" Hanna offered, folding her legs under her, and hanging onto the urge to snicker. "At least a little. And don't you end up in trouble that way?"

"Sure."

Was that for the first or the second part? Maybe it was both.

He gestured at the candy, and winked at her. "Trouble loves me."

Definitely flirting, Hanna guessed, but it wasn't unnerving. Just fun. Hanna carefully reached for some chocolate hearts, and then said, "So you love trouble. And candy. And excess."

"And kissing," he added easily as he reached for a few truffles from an open box of chocolates. "But I think you may have noticed that already, last time."

Okay, there was the blushing. Hanna nodded, speechless around a mouthful of chocolate and awkwardness. Finally she swallowed the candy and said, "And you were good at it. Have you kissed a lot of people?"

"This past week, or just in general?"

Wait.

"That's a trick question. The answer to both is a very hearty yes."

Hanna put both hands over her mouth to keep from choking on the chocolate, giggling again.

"It's nice. You're a good kisser." Hanna studied him. "It's just for fun, isn't it? It isn't always romantic?"

"Oh, it's always for fun." He didn't really ever get romantic, but he figured saying that in so many words might make him seem more callous than he actually was. "And it's great fun."

"It is," Hanna admitted. "But feelings are confusing. Other people's feelings, even more." She was kind of glad the week of crazy feelings was over now, thank you much. "But if it's just fun, with no feelings, that's... less so. Are you going to Mexico?" Abrupt topic changes were kind of a thing for her.

Ezra could move with that, especially when it was a move away from topics he didn't want to dwell on. "I absolutely am," he said, nodding. "Are you? Should be pretty fun."

Hanna nodded enthusiastically, and reached for a marshmallow. "I've never been there. To Spain, once. It was wonderful. The food, the music... some boys we met had Vespas, and we toured all over at night." She frowned. "The last boat I was on was a barge, though."

"This is probably not going to be a barge." He hoped not, unless the school's idea of a cruise ship was... lacking. His head tilted quizzically to the side. "Why were you on a barge?"
