Fifth Floor Common Room, Monday evening

Jessica settled in the common room looking to take her mind off of her recent troubles. On TV tonight there was football and tennis and supposedly real housewives and Storage Wars and so on. None of it actually good, as far as she was concerned. And if she was going to watch something that wasn't good anyway, she was going to to watch something

"What movie is this?" Bay asked indifferently, as she continued a project of checking every common room except her own for food.

... shut up. She made her own fun.

"Also, hi."

"Hey there. It's the one where the trees are killing everyone with pollen," Jessica said. "The shocking twist is that they're doing it on purpose. I'd say that's a spoiler, but one of the characters came up with the idea about fifteen minutes in."

"Oh yeah, I heard about that," Bay said. "Except I always thought my brother was making up the pollen part just to pull my leg. Apparently not."

She found a box of Pop-Tars and carried some over to the couch. Eating and snarking went well together.

"I'm pretty sure that only one person could make up something this stupid. And it just so happens that they got to turn it into a movie," Jessica said. "More power to him, though. I mean, I'm watching this and you're joining in, so clearly we're the suckers here."

[justbeingbay]

"True, buuuuut we're watching it for free," Bay argued. "I think the real suckers are the ones who paid him to make it, and the people who paid to see it in theaters. We're just semi-suckers."

"I like the way you think," Jessica said. "But, um, try not to think too much at the movie itself. It'll only hurt. It's very, very dumb."

[justbeingbay]

"It has killer trees in it," Bay said. "Of course it's dumb. Are there at least hot people to ogle?"

"Technically, yes," Jessica said. "But they don't seem quite as hot when they're this whiny and don't close their mouths ever. They're just trying to always look surprised and it comes off more like they're mouthbreathers."

"Oh." Bay tried not to look disappointed. "So why are you watching it, again?"

"I needed an evening where I could let my brain rot a little, but I still wasn't desperate enough to watch reality shows," Jessica explained. "Also? To mock."

"So you're creative about your brain-rotting," Bay said. "I get it. And no one deserves reality TV."

"Truer words, my friend," Jessica said. "So what are you doing alllllll the way up here? Not just stealing our fifth floor food, are you?" She saw the Pop-Tarts. Mostly because it wasn't being hidden at all.

"Pretty much," Bay said, with absolutely no guilt. "Besides, do you know how boring only having one day a week of classes gets? Sometimes you just have to go hunting for signs of life."

[craftyladyparts]

"I wasn't going to fault you anyway, but one day?" Jessica asked. "I don't know what I'd do with that much free time without classes, but I'm pretty sure I'd start by looking for a wrong crowd so I could fall in with them."

She was friends with Cade and Atton. She already knew the wrong crowd.

"Yeah, it was an experiment that sort of failed," Bay said. "I have a job and online stuff, but it's not the same. Also, I didn't know there was a wrong crowd in Fandom."

"There's a drunk crowd," Jessica said. "That's probably the closest we come."
