The Roof : Monday Afternoon

It wasn't raining this weekend so Theo decided to go outside, check out some parts of the dorm he hadn't seen before. He'd seen the deck on his way back from classes but he hadn't gone to the roof yet. There wasn't anything else on and he figured maybe this would give Dev and Ange something new and exciting to argue about

"Oh," Tony said, seeing someone else was on the roof. "Hey."

AWKWARD.

"Heya," Theo said, giving Tony a brief wave. "Come up to enjoy some fresh air?"

Or maybe it was to smoke. Theo had noticed some cigarette butts around the roof area. Not many but some.

Tony snorted. "Yeah, no. Smoking is so not on the agenda for me. I'm Tony and you're new. I hope."

[theoplustwo]

"I am but why do you hope that?" Theo asked curiously. "Did I miss something?"

[hoorayimrich]

"Otherwise I haven't been paying attention to people again." Which was possible. "It happens sometimes."

[theoplustwo]

"I'm definitely new then so I think you're okay there," he assured Tony. "I'm Theo. Live on the third floor and still getting a feel for this place."

[hoorayimrich]

That got a laugh out of Tony. "I'm not sure you ever get a feel for this place. It's good about keeping you on your toes."

[theoplustwo]

"I don't know whether I should be excited about that or terrified," Theo answered with a shake of his head.

Dev, of course, was excited about it which meant he was yelling very loudly. Theo wanted to tell him to 'shut up' but not with Tony right there.

"But hey, you're looking at someone how made it through to graduate. So, you know it can be done."

[theoplustwo]

"And you don't look like you were permanently maimed or scarred," Theo noted with an approving nod. "So, maybe the horror stories I've heard will be bearable."

Okay, they weren't really horror stories but they weren't fairy tales either. They were stuck somewhere in the middle.

"Sure," Tony agreed wryly. "So, what brings you to the roof?"

[theoplustwo]

Theo shrugged a shoulder. "Just thought I'd get outside for a little while. And I never could spend time outside on my roof at home. So, new experiences, maybe?"

[hoorayimrich]

"The roof here?" Tony said. "Mostly for people to brood on."

A beat.

"Or smoke apparently."

[theoplustwo]

"Does it help with the brooding?" Theo wondered. "Have some special qualities to help with that?"

[hoorayimrich]

"Maybe it's the air?"

[theoplustwo]

"It's different here than in their room or out in town?" It didn't seem different but he wasn't really brooding either.
