It turns out the base isn't totally deserted -- there are a handful of thugs lurking outside the front gates. They don't look friendly. You need to either talk or bribe your way past them, or kill 'em dead.

"Anyone charming?" Topher wanted to know. Even his badass Mary Sue engineer couldn't take on this challenge. Topher could never be charming.

"My bloke's got charm." Apparently it was a pre-requisite for the entire Space Hooker character class. Even the Streetwalkers got a charm bonus as long as they had full health points. "And if that doesn't work he has plus three damage to any blow... wait, no. Wrong section, sorry."

Victor needed to blink a couple times to get that mental image out of his head. It didn't quite work. "Okay, roll the dice to see if the thugs can be persuaded by somebody who can blow them away."

Which of the ten different types of dice was she supposed to roll? Ace shrugged and scooped up a green one, a blue one, and a regular old six-sided die, then scattered them across the table. "...Twenty-six?"

Tony caught the dice after a slight bit of fumbling. "My character is gifted in other ways," he assured Topher before tossing the dice to see what would come of it. It was a one. Wow. "Aaaaand that's one hell of a botched roll."

...That was impressive, Tony. "Well then."

Looked like they were a tiny bit screwed.

"We could always try beating them up?"

Victor waited a moment, then decided to move things along: "Suddenly, there's a loud noise. The slugs are rampaging. You have a chance to get away."
