Compe Tent Campfire, Tuesday Morning

Jun 19, 2012 09:01

For the first week, Juliet had firmly believed the tents were a joke and that at any moment, the school would come back to its senses and let everyone back into the dorms. Which were still a little basic for Juliet's tastes, but at least they had electricity.

It was now well into the second week, and she had to admit they were likely stuck for the duration. Juliet was just stubborn enough about being "real" that she hadn't yet followed through on her threats to get a hotel room -- which didn't, of course, stop her from whining every chance she got.

The bright side was that staying outside gave her an excellent excuse to work on a tan. She sprawled on her stomach on a towel set at one side of the unlit fire pit, notebook open in front of her as she worked on the monologue she'd promised Jono she'd write for the summer showcase. It was hard, communicating how dreadful camping was without sounding like you'd lost your sense of perspective.
