Fifth Floor Common Room, Sunday Morning

Mar 04, 2012 09:05

It was Sunday morning, and after a week of largely handwavy moping about, Wesley woke up and felt like brunch was in order. And it seemed as though Fandom agreed with him, because by the time he was finished retrieving food he'd had delivered and preparing some himself, the end result was a quantity quite a bit larger than what he'd intended.

So -- ( Read more... )

Much like Bruce and Jack, Bobby had also finished up a morning workout (in the form of a run) before coming back into the dorms. Yes, he knew he didn't seem the type. But there it was. "I'm either having some sort of smell-based hallucination, or there's food in here," Bobby said, poking his head into the common room.

Swiftly followed by the rest of him, once he verified that it was, yes, that second thing.

Damn you athletes in this common room. DAMN YOU ALL.

Wesley looked up and grinned. "The latter," he assured Bobby. "Though I take it you've reached that conclusion yourself by now."

Kind of a risky assumption to make, considering that there was still food left. And it was Bobby.

HEY THERE NARRATIVE, IMPLYING BOBBY HAS SOME SORT OF BOTTOMLESS-STOMACH APPETITE.

...Well, actually, yeah, that was fair.

"And you're sharing, right?" he checked. "I mean, that's usually what happens when there's food out, but..." one of these days, he was just gonna assume and then get yelled at 'cause that food wasn't for sharing. Or something.

HE ATE AN OOC THREAD THE OTHER DAY. IT WAS JUSTIFIED.

"Yes, yes, by all means, help yourself," Wesley invited him, grinning. "It'd just be cruel to prepare this quantity of food and bar others from enjoying any."

"Awesome," Bobby grinned back, grabbing a plate. He'd get to the introductions thing in a bit, really.

Just as soon as he made a significant dent in this brunch layout. What? He had to do his part to make sure there were as few leftovers as possible!

Thank you, Bobby. It was appreciated.

"The bagels are especially good," Wesley offered helpfully despite not being from a place with the authority to judge bagel quality, ENGLAND. "I was impressed." With the food he'd ordered himself. Shut up, don't judge.

Bobby eyed the aforementioned bagels thoughtfully, and then added an extra one to his plate. "Thanks, man," he said. "This is just the sort of thing I needed."

"No trouble at all," Wesley assured him. "Back home, my colleagues and I always put together breakfast after especially trying weeks. It's become instinct." Pause. "Or, er. Former colleagues." Damn, that stung a little, even if he was doing a decent job of not showing it.

"Former?" Bobby's tact-sense was... not as developed as it should be.

"Oh, just from a, ah. A job I used to have," Wesley dismissed, with... just a tad less success than he'd meant to. "No matter. Ah. How are you?"

"Sensitive subject?" Bobby guessed. Yes, Bobby, that's why Wes was trying to be evasive. "Not bad, I guess. It's kinda starting to sink in that I've got two months of school left, which- is kinda weird." Especially since at one point he hadn't actually expected to finish out his senior year at all.

"Yes, it's the same for me," Wesley agreed, nodding. "Do you know where you intend to go after graduation? Or -- I suppose universities haven't sent out their letters yet, have they?" He had no idea.

"ESU," Bobby shared. "I kinda... got early admission," he coughed, looking a little sheepish. His facility with numbers didn't exactly fit with the prankster image he'd cultivated for as long as he could remember. Although 'early admission' was kind of a misnomer, since time moved so much faster in his reality relative to Fandom, and according to his paperwork there, he'd actually been in college for a couple years now.

"Oh! That's wonderful, congratulations," Wesley said sincerely. "And that's in..." Pause. "I've absolutely no clue where that is."

British, remember.

"...New York?" Bobby gave him a disbelieving look. "Empire State U?" Bobby, you lived in the Marvelverse. You should be used to this by now, even with people who were familiar with American geography. "Also, uh. I don't think I ever got your name?"

"Right, of course, my mistake," Wesley said, assuming it was just a school he hadn't heard of. "And I'm Wesley Wyndam-Pryce," he added, offering a hand. "And yourself?"
