So over the past two weeks on the island, Rebecca hadn't really done very much. Did some work for her classes, rearranged the furniture in her room and taken over part of Matt's closet... normal fun stuff. Quinn was just going to get a drink, but if the common room was full of food, she'd take a little pasta primavera.

Or she would until she spotted Rebecca, anyhow. She turned toward Madamoiselle Cleavage with a plate in her hand and a bright smile on her face.

"Ruthie!" she said, obnoxiously brightly. "How are you settling in?"

"Katie!" Rebecca chirped back in about the same tone of voice. "Things are going so well, actually. Can I get you anything?" She sized Quinn up, then winced and offered, "Maybe some salad?"

RUDE.

Dammit, Quinn knew when she was being tweaked, but now she was going to have a voice in the back of her head calling her a cow all night.

"I think I'm fine with this," she managed to say, coolly, and even added a piece of garlic bread to her plate.

"But thanks! It's so nice when the new girls like waiting on people."

"Just thought I owed you after the picnic," Rebecca said, offering the fakest smile ever. "You did such a great job bringing me tea and all!"

"It's so nice that we're both polite," Quinn grinned back. "But all this, wow. Is it a special occasion?"

If Rebecca succeeded at buying friends this way, Quinn would scream.

She would totally succeed at buying friends, Quinn. That was just how she rolled.

"Nope," Rebecca said, beaming. "Just thought it'd be nice to give people something to do, and apparently Student Council doesn't have anything planned for, like, a while, so..."

Quinn knew better than to take that bait, though the effort made her grit her teeth.

"So you decided to feed us pasta!" she said. "Excellent. You're so creative."

"And salad," Rebecca reminded her sweetly.

"Creative and salad?" Quinn asked, raising one eyebrow.

She felt this crazy urge to laugh. It was inconvenient.

"Oh, sweetie," Rebecca said, reaching to try to set a mock-sympathetic hand on Quinn's shoulder as if the other girl were especially slow. "Pasta and salad."

Quinn did not shrug her shoulder away, much as her skin itched. "I'm so glad we got that all cleared up," she said.

She'd have to watch that.
