Third Floor Common Room, Thursday Evening

Jan 12, 2012 17:13

So over the past two weeks on the island, Rebecca hadn't really done very much. Did some work for her classes, rearranged the furniture in her room and taken over part of Matt's closet... normal fun stuff. But she'd come to the conclusion that it was time to start networking with people. Forming alliances, as it were ( Read more... )

"Something smells good," Matt said as he entered the common room, pretending to use hiss cane to guide him.. It was only a half-second later that Matt realized that Rebecca was in the room. He did his best to hide his revulsion. "Is the food for everyone?" he asked hopefully.

Wait, you mean Matt didn't think Rebecca was the best roommate ever? But why?

"Sure!" she chirped, maybe a bit more sweetly than she usually would have bothered being with him. Because there were other people around probably and she had to make a good impression on them, at least.

"Oh! Rebecca!" Matt chirped back as he swung around with his cane, narrowly missing Rebecca's shins. "I didn't realize you were here. Is this your doing?"

Oh, and Rebecca can score so many points by helping the poor blind boy!

"Yep!" Rebecca said with feigned enthusiasm, taking a less-than-thrilled step back from that totally deliberate swipe of Matt's cane. "Oh, no, be careful of that table!"

There was no table.

"What table?" Matt asked as he turned around and taking another swipe at Rebecca's shins. "Gosh. People need to stop moving the furniture around here. So. How's it going, roomie? Did you talk to the school office about switching rooms yet?"

"Ow! Hey!" Rebecca yelped. It was possible she sounded a bit bitchy at that, yeah. "That is... you might want to be a little more careful with the cane, Matt," she advised him in as nice a tone as she could manage. "Someone could get hurt!"

"Oh, I'm sorry," Matt said, oozing with sympathy. "Did I hit you? I apologize. I've just been all turned around today. Did I leave a mark?"

"You'd better not have," Rebecca grumbled, turning around to examine the damage. Aaaand -- nope, just a little red. Thank god.

"I mean... can I get you anything, Matt?"

"Oh that is so nice of you to ask, Rebecca!" Matt said over-appreciatively. "Could I have a plate of food? Maybe a soft drink over ice with a twist of lemon?"

"I'll see what I can do," Rebecca promised him, making her way to heavily salt a plate of pasta. No sauce. She was saving that for people she liked. "Careful, it's hot," she warned as she handed the plate to him, along with a spoon and some possibly-expired warm root beer she'd found in the cabinet.

Matt took a bite of the food and made a face. With his acute sense of taste he might as well have been eating pure salt. "Thank you, Rebecca. I can tell you worked very hard at cooking this food. Could I have a glas of ice if it isn't too much trouble?"

"Oh, I didn't cook it," Rebecca assured him. "It's from a restaurant in town. So good, isn't it?"

Yeah, watch her not exactly hurrying to get that ice.

"Hmmm. Little salty for my taste," Matt admitted, "But i'm sure it suits your palate just fine."

You, know. If she wee a deer.

Rebecca barely refrained from scowling.

"More Quinn's than mine, probably," she theorized instead. Because insulting a perfectly nice fellow student to someone completely unfamiliar with her was always fun.

"I just met her," Matt replied conversationally, "She seems very nice and sounds pretty. I bet you could learn a lot from her."

Like manners.

"Did I ask for a cup of ice? This root beer is a tad warm."

"We're fresh out," Rebecca lied, mock-regretfully. "Sorry. I bet if you went outside, it'd cool down a little, though!"
