Okay, so this wasn't the happiest event Student Council or the Reserves had ever put together.
It wasn't even in the top fifty.
Still, there were some of the trappings of a standard student event: Free food, for one, represented by a table of pizzas. Odd decorations -- CPR dummies, in this case.
And, of course, people standing in the front of the room

Still, he was not in his element here, but he was making an effort - for once - not to let it show.

A wiser someone would argue that he was a little bit freaked out and wasn't crazy about the idea of being by himself. Usually solitude was comforting, but his research yesterday hadn't exactly reassured him, and at this point it just felt smarter to be where people were. For now, anyway.
