Student Council/Reserves Mixer and CPR Class, Friday Afternoon

Okay, so this wasn't the happiest event Student Council or the Reserves had ever put together.

It wasn't even in the top fifty.

Still, there were some of the trappings of a standard student event: Free food, for one, represented by a table of pizzas. Odd decorations -- CPR dummies, in this case.

And, of course, people standing in the front of the room

Ender didn't exactly need the training, but he did feel like he needed to be here - to gauge the state of the student body and to talk to whoever he could get his hands on.

And also to eat something, though he mostly did that because the food was there. It was a ritual, in its way.

Peter was here more out of a sense that he was expected to be here. After all, how could he help drag these people out from the muck if he didn't know what was going on?

Still, he was not in his element here, but he was making an effort - for once - not to let it show.

Topher was here. One might argue it had something to do with the fact that there was food.

A wiser someone would argue that he was a little bit freaked out and wasn't crazy about the idea of being by himself. Usually solitude was comforting, but his research yesterday hadn't exactly reassured him, and at this point it just felt smarter to be where people were. For now, anyway.

Natalie showed up mostly because this was one of those things that were supposed to be useful, and she couldn't bear to be anything but sensible right now.

She watched on, impassively, and took a slice of pizza but failed to actually eat it.

Annie wasn't going to be sticking around here while bad stuff was happening, but she still took her role as Co-President seriously and thought it was important to be here.

Also she was a really good hugger, if anyone needed.
