Fifth Floor Common Room, Wednesday Evening

Toby had just gone to get a little dinner for himself, but apparently the Chinese food place was in the middle of a 5-for-1 special. Which, well. He wasn't gonna turn down free food, but now he had entirely too much. Hence, common room, in hopes that he might be able to foist off some of this food instead of letting it go to waste

Richie didn't often go wandering the halls in search of food but every once in a while it just seemed like the thing to do. Tonight was one of those times.

"Got any eggrolls?" he asked. The food was for sharing, right? The food was always for sharing. That was how this worked.

"Like a dozen," Toby pointed. "And yes, it's for sharing."

"Awesome," Richie said, grinning. "Sesame chicken?" Shameless, when it came to mooching off of other people's food, was Richie.

"You usually feed half the dorm, or were you just really hungry?"

"I hadn't planned on sharing," Toby admitted shamelessly. Look, he still hoarded crackers under his bed. "But the restaurant gave me way too much, so. Common room food party. Apparently."

"I'll have to thank the restaurant," Richie said. Free food was always exciting, even when you didn't have to worry about where your next meal was gonna come from. "And, uh, you. Thanks." Sometimes Richie had manners. Tessa would be so proud. Or shaking her head. One of those.

"Least I could do," Toby shrugged. "I mean, leftovers are only really good for the first couple of days, anyway, right?"

"You might be able to finish it off in a few days," Richie said thoughtfully. "Or pay some gremlins a protection fee or something." Now, that was a scary thought. Gremlins who needed to be paid off to not bite. Or to keep other ones from biting. Organized gremlin crime!

"I think starting up a gremlin protection racket could only end badly for everyone involved."

"You sure they don't already have one going?" This was not a conversation Richie could ever have envisioned before he got to this island. And now it seemed almost normal. Oh, Fandom. "...oh man, what if they're listening and I've doomed us all?" He could totally take a gremlin though. Really.

"Should we leave some Chinese food by the vents, you think?"

[richieryan]

"That might just encourage them." And Richie didn't want to do that. "Maybe we just pretend that we never thought of this." And hope they didn't get chewed on by gremlins in pin-striped suits in their sleep.

"That's probably the best thing we could do," Toby agreed. "And hope the squirrels don't decide to rat us out."

"We might be better off bribing the squirrels," Richie suggested. "Do squirrels like eggrolls?"

It was Tony's baby-daddy! Topher resisted the urge to glare.

"No," he said, deliberately blocking the food that wasn't his.

See, sullenness was even more antisocial than your standard-issue glare.

"Toby said there were," Richie said, oblivious to any tension. "Dude, I can see them. You're not planning on eating them all, right?" Topher wasn't big enough to eat that much food. He might explode.

"I'm really hungry," Topher informed him flatly.
