Fifth Floor Common Room, Wednesday Evening

Toby had just gone to get a little dinner for himself, but apparently the Chinese food place was in the middle of a 5-for-1 special. Which, well. He wasn't gonna turn down free food, but now he had entirely too much. Hence, common room, in hopes that he might be able to foist off some of this food instead of letting it go to waste

Bruce was just returning from several hours in the cave building his computer system from scratch, so food - if it was being shared - smelled like a good idea.

"Evening. What's on tonight?" Bruce asked, taking a glance at the spare Chinese.

"Spirit Speaker," Toby informed him. "I'll let you guess what it's about. And yes, the food's being shared. Help yourself."

"Thanks," Bruce said. "Just as a wild guess, I'd say it's about someone who speaks to spirits. Am I close?"

"Right on the money," Toby informed him. "You win a fortune cookie," he added, tossing one in Bruce's direction.

Bruce grabbed the flying cookie, cracked it open, and took the fortune out. "'Accept the next proposition you hear,'" Bruce read. "That seems like dangerous advice to give randomly."

"Especially if that's gonna encourage someone to ask you to do something dangerous or illegal," Toby pointed out. Not that Bruce seemed the type to follow a fortune cookie's directions without question.

"Just do me a favor and don't proposition me with anything like that," Bruce said. "You never know when the fortunes here might end up cursed or something."

Toby glanced over at Steph and gave a snort of amusement before turning his gaze back to Bruce. "The two of you kinda think alike, you know that?" he commented.

"Gotham City does a good job shaping the minds of youths," Bruce suggested. "We tend to be either cautious or criminal."

"...Really glad Fandom seems to attract the former, in that case."

"The others are probably in juvie," Bruce said. "They don't have enough good behavior saved up to get out and visit."

"I can't say I'm too disappointed by that," Toby admitted. Just 'cause he'd done his own stint in juvie didn't mean he felt any sort of solidarity with anyone else who'd ended up there.

"We have enough problems around here without any Gotham thugs anyway," Bruce said. "I think that's something we can all be thankful for."
