So, Kate had been pretty pissed off over having let that pale guy escape earlier. For a bunch of reasons. She was telling herself his words weren't one of them

Scully's door was open, and she was typing away on her laptop, working on her Russian homework before going out to see if the rain had stopped. Maybe to head over the Causeway to get some Japanese food later. Blissfully unaware this was one of those weekends.
"Hi Kate." Scully glanced up, her fingers still moving. "Translation of a news article into Russian. Not that I expect they care about the Belmont Stakes. Just wandering around?"
"I was thinking of heading to the mainland for sushi in a bit, if you want to go along." Scully glanced out the window. "Although it might still be raining there. I'm getting sick of that."
Kate gave a light shrug. "I'm not much for seafood these days." Because, you know, it couldn't possibly beat blood anymore. "And I quite like the rain."
Scully saved her document and reached for her jacket, getting ready to leave the dorm. "What have you been up to?" she asked, shrugging it on and heading toward Kate and the door.
"Oh, you know." She shrugged again, watching Scully just a little too intently, a smirk playing about her lips. "This and that. Talking to people, having a little human interaction..."
She may have said that last bit a little creepily, somehow.
It isn't that she's worried or afraid of Kate, but something of her manner reminded Scully that things are Dangerous Out There. And if she's going looking for sushi, armed is the way to go.
She turned to grab her holster and gun and put them on quickly, watching Kate, trying to pin down that feeling. "Have you met any of the newest kids? I've only talked to one or two."
Kate raised an eyebrow at the gun and the holster, but didn't say anything straight away, even if she was already reconsidering terrorizing this particular breather.
Bullets still hurt, even as a vampire.
"Well, they all blur together," she said, recalling something she'd heard the older vampires say about new arrivals such as herself. "I've talked to a few."
"Have you met Marshall? He's my little sibling." Scully crossed the threshold and locked her door, giving Kate an untroubled smile as she pulled her jacket to hide the gun. "He's a liiiiittle high strung. A class on zombie apocalypses doesn't help there."
"Of course not. On an island like this." A little vampire island joke, there. Kate eyed Scully's jacket, around where she knew the gun was. "Scared something's gonna happen out there?" she asked, lightly. "Like the sushi'll get violent?"
Scully considered, then, feeling slightly foolish, opened her door and took off the gun again. "You're probably right. This time of day, as long as I keep my head down..."

"I doubt they'll be after your lunch."

What could go wrong?

Kate was smiling a bit too widely. "Exactly. And this way there's no chance of you accidentally shooting anyone. That'd be tragic."
