Chuck was not a fighter, by any stretch of the imagination, and usually spent these invasions safely holed up indoors if at all possible, leaving the heroics to the people who liked swords, or could punch someone out without even trying. It was better that way

"What is going on here?!" Dolf declared, sticking his head out of the dorms a little while into it.

Chuck was a little out of breath when he ran back up the steps to the dorm doors after disposing of some meandering attacker.

"... Things got proactive." 'Things' being the little mushroomy dudes. "They seem less cute today." Maybe because they were aiming for the dorms, rather than holding to their meandering patterns of yesterday.

"...Okay," Dolf said, with the kind of stunned silence you'd expect.

He shook it off a moment later. "So what are we doing?" he asked. "Are you fighting them?"

"Sort of? I mean, this whole jumping on things doesn't really feel like fighting." Which was probably why Chuck was completely okay with the concept.

"But they go... somewhere, when you do. Which I guess is a good thing?"

Dolf frowned more deeply, took that into account, and stepped outside. "That sounds easy," he said, cautiously. "They are attacking pretty fast now."

"Yeah..." That was a little more worrying. "But all that seems to happen when you hit them wrong is you end up back in there," he noted, gesturing over his shoulder. "Annoying, and the shock is... ow. But not fatal!" Which was the important part.
