Fighting Reserves: Behind the Dorms, Tuesday After Classes

Mar 22, 2011 09:42

Yep, back behind the dorms today, with beverages and snacks and all that good stuff. You couldn't screw with a good formula like that too much, right?

"Hey, guys," Kennedy began, and did you ever have that vague feeling like you should be worried about something but there wasn't a single good reason for you to think you should? Because yeah. That was her today, if the slightly preoccupied air about her was any indication. "So I bet you thought tug-of-war was a strategy-free kids' game, right? Not so much."

It'd been a surprise to her, too, before she'd braved the wilderness that was a Google search. Spread out in the grass of the clearing was an arrangement of four ropes attached to a metal ring with carabiners, though, which she walked around as she spoke. A circle had been outlined in chalk on the grass, its circumference about halfway between the central ring and the ends of the ropes.

"So, this is a little exercise in teamwork and thinking on the fly. Split up into groups, each group grab one rope, and see if you can work together to win, 'cause this isn't gonna be a basic pull-harder-than-the-other-guy thing. And yeah, you can shift to one side or another and try to make the angles work for you. Group that manages to get the ring across the circle first wins."
