Magic/Support Reserves: the Preserve, Wednesday After Classes

Today's snacks were distinctly fall in flavor and included cranberry baked brie and crackers (whole wheat, of course), roasted pumpkin seeds, and apple slices and caramel. It was possible Raven had gone a little overboard with nice treats in an attempt not to worry too much about the missing member of the Reserves today

Cassidy was here as was her usual on a Wednesday. However, she had noticed that distinct lack of a second Queen in the area and she was worried. She was trying to hide her concern over not being able to sense her friend, but she may not have been doing it very well.

She was nibbling on pumpkin seeds as she listened to what today's discussion was about.

"Hello, Cassidy," Raven greeted her. "I hope you are well today. Have you heard from Karla recently?" She was guessing no from the unease she was sensing from her friend.

Cassidy gave Raven a weak smile and shook her head.

"Hello, Raven. I haven't heard from her, but I know that she's not on the island right now." Yes, that was real worry in her eyes. "I haven't seen her since the weekend."

"She left late Sunday night," Raven confirmed. She pulled out her phone to show Cassidy the text message Karla had left for her. "She did not say what the trouble was, and I am concerned because I have not heard from her since."

Cassidy's eyes widened when she saw the message and shook her head. "I'm concerned too -- especially if no one has sent word since then." Now she was more than a little worried about her friend. She recalled all of the different things Karla had told her -- not to mention Shira and Ranon. "She's okay. She has to be."

"She will be fine," Raven said, as much to convince herself as Cassidy. She sent Cassidy a gentle pulse of comfort. "I have met her Uncle Saetan and Lucivar, and I am certain they are taking good care of her, whatever is going on."

Cassidy chewed on her bottom lip for a moment. "I have met the High Lord, but I haven't met Lucivar." And wouldn't that be fun when it happened. "I believe the High Lord is very protective of her and would never let nay harm befall her."

But she would much rather be where Karla was so that she could see for herself that she was all right.

She should also probably get herself a cell phone.

Raven managed a tiny smile at the thought of Lucivar. "Lucivar is...interesting. Very bold. He seemed almost amused when he found I was a pacifist and insisted I learn how to defend myself. I have never been very comfortable with the thought of using a weapon even in defense, however, though I understand the need."

Cassidy looked at her. "I don't know how to fight at all." She admitted sheepishly. "Clayton has taught me a little about defending myself, though."

Gabrielle who should always be at these meetings wtf self was eating apples with caramel like her life depended on the sugar high, but it wasn't making her hyper; she had the subdued and preoccupied air of someone who'd been Very Concerned about the still-empty bed across the room from hers.

Rather than looking like she agreed with the lecture, though, she looked a little guilty; it wasn't like she ever thought of these things, because the gods knew Xena wasn't the world's most responsible person when it came to leaving clear messages whenever she just had to go off somewhere on a second's notice, and as for herself . . . she was usually getting kidnapped when that happened, and it was hard to leave messages that way.

Kennedy was perched on a log near the edge of the group, a triple-strength mocha beside her; she had a newspaper in her hand (seriously, Constance, the feel of newsprint was gross, was the hard copy really worth the cost of postage?) that she was only peripherally paying attention to, since she knew Tara and Raven well enough that she could factor in Karla's absence and guess exactly what they were getting at. (There wasn't that much interesting in the Sunnydale news this week anyhow; an article about the extremely successful grand reopening -- the fourth, at least -- of a Sunnydale novelty shop, an human-interest interview with a new doctor, and something about a slight uptick in psych-ward admissions.)

...sigh, Karla.

Honestly, though? Kennedy was pretty impressed Raven wasn't freaking out all over the place, given what she knew about what was going on there.

Jonothon wasn't yet aware that there was anything resembling cause for concern, no. He had a kitten tucked inside of his coat, and he was attending the meeting, hanging around on the edges again.

Totally normal Wednesday for Jono, squeaky kitty aside.

Alexander did feel a little bit of concern for Karla's clear absence, hoping everything was alright for her, but not one to intrude on business that was none of his. So there was some nibbling on cheese and some pleasant reception of the apples and caramel, which was just enough sweetness for him sensitive sugar palette.
