Second Floor Boys Bathroom, Sunday after the return

Aug 08, 2010 14:55

Bruce lived on the fifth floor. This was only the second. Bruce didn't care. It was the nearest set of showers for him to wash off the stink of sweat, filth, human blood (mostly not his), and grenade launcher exhaust. It had been a long weekend. Residents of the second floor were just going to have to deal with his trespassing ( Read more... )

Shocking how Clark also lived on the fifth floor. Since Bruce had the closest shower, he grabbed the next, ready to stop stinking of rotting flesh and gunpowder.

"...that song's never gonna be the same."

"It'll be a long time before I see the Nutcracker again," Bruce said. "How did you do in that last fight?"

"I managed," Clark shrugged, thinking he should've done more to stop people from ending up with hooks through them. "Glad there seemed to be healer-types waiting when we returned." Not that he'd needed them.

Bruce probably did need a healer for a lot of the hits he took over the past few days. He would never admit that or go to one, though. He'd just deal with it. "I wonder if they were prepared for that or if the healers just reacted quickly. It probably doesn't matter, but I want to know what happened while we were gone."

"Yeah," Clark said, finally thinking about it himself for the first time.

Wait for it.

"Oh no...Cara! I can't believe I forgot!" He slammed his hand against his head like he could physically jog his memory in the past. Maybe he could.

"Don't take it out on the shower, Clark," Bruce said. "What happened?"

"When I disappeared," Clark started, feeling like he was a total moron here, "we'd been...talking and I fell through the rip or whatever - she wasn't where we were so I don't know if she knows we're back or what happened here while we were gone!" Bad things had clearly happened all over given the numbers in the lobby earlier.

"I'm sure she's fine. But if you're going to rush out to find her, make sure to put on some pants first," Bruce offered as a tip.

It was good advice, even if Clark made a face in response. "Probably should deal with the soap in my hair, rather than jumping in the lake on my way."

"You don't wash in the lake regularly, do you?" Bruce checked.

"Only in very desperate situations," Clark answered vaguely, rinsing his hair thoroughly and finding a bit of splicer stuck behind his ear.

"When you really have to get clean, I suppose you have to do what you have to do," Bruce said.
