"Soooooooookie!" Karla gave her very large puppy eyes. "I might starve to death and die if I don't eat something soon. I'm a Healer. I know how close to death I am."
She raised her wrist to her forehead and tried to look suitably tragic.
"You do look close to the brink of death," Sookie agreed thoughtfully. "All right. Fine. I'll share. But only because you look so very emaciated and I don't want that on my hands."
'Emaciated' had been a word of the day the other day. She was proud to have found a use for it.
Karla burst out laughing. "Sookie!" she said, trying to sound scandalized. "I am attempting to flirt shamelessly with you! Please stop getting distracted!"
Sookie snorted. "Oh, sorry! Um, be still my fluttering heart! Bobby's going to be distraught when he returns, because I've been stolen away!" Pause. "Better?"
"Much," Karla said, settling back to her seat and putting several marshmallows on her stick. "Very believable. I'm convinced we'll be running away together, just as soon as we've finished all the food you've brought."
"Only the most delicious of all the delicacies," Karla agreed. "It wouldn't do to have us keel over right in the middle of our absconding. That would just be embarrassing."
"Kiss kiss," she called, strolling up. "Ooooh, sausages! Please tell me they're for sharing."

...She hadn't much improved at the skill yet, but it was okay right now when she was trying to look ridiculous. "Doesn't it all work out so nicely?"
