Tim sat down on one of the logs and waved at Sookie. "How's it going?" he asked. He pulled a plastic bag from his pocket and extracted two squished marshmallows from the interior, which he stuck on a toasting fork.

"...good," she said, peering at him. "Honey, why're there marshmallows in your pocket?"

"I've been eating them all day," Tim explained. "I saved the last two for a campfire, though."

[justwantsquiet]

"Yeah, okay, but why?" she asked, still puzzled. "You've just been keeping them in your pocket to snack on all day?"

Peter sat down and stole a marshmallow, which he didn't even bother to roast before popping in his mouth. "Thanks," he said, smirking. "You know, I think a person could probably get away with spending nothing on his own snack supplies on this island."

"I don't know where all the food comes from, half the time," Sookie admitted with some amusement. "I usually just go into a common room and there's stuff already there for me to bake or cook. In this case, this was all in my cabin's kitchen. It's like magic."

"Hopefully there isn't some secret wicked witch hiding in the woods in a gingerbread cabin," Peter joked. "How've you been, Sookie?"

"I've been good. Uneaten by witches," she noted helpfully. "Have you been settling in okay?"

Tahiri was finally un-grounded, which was a relief, except for the part where the cabins meant it was about that time of year.

It had her slightly preoccupied, but at least she wasn't a walking ball of soul-crushing emo, right? "Hey, Sookie," she greeted as she approached the campfire and poked a few marshmallows onto a stick to roast. "How's cabin life treating you so far?"

"Headacheishly," she said, figuring Tahiri would understand. "But otherwise, it's nice out, and school isn't really school. Can't complain. How're you?"

Tahiri gave her a sympathetic look. "That bad? I've spent the past two weeks stuck in my room when I haven't had classes or somewhere I absolutely had to be, and I don't even know why."

"...wait, how? Like, literally stuck?" she asked, staring. "Could your feet move?"

"Someone clear on the other end of my cabin snores loudly enough to wake me," Rilla griped as she stalked toward the fire, skirt swishing.

"Poor you. Welcome to the cabins, Rilla," Sookie laughed. "You should get them some of those strips for their nose."

[rilla_myrilla]

"There are strips for their nose?" Rilla replied. "I threatened to beat them with a pillow."

She was hardcore.

"That's a way to get through," she commented thoughtfully. "There're these sticky little strips that you put on the bridge of a snorer's nose, and it makes 'em not snore! My brother's kinda a loud sleeper, too."

"Freedom!" Ino carolled as she flung herself down by the fire.

[justwantsquiet]

"Freedom?" Sookie repeated skeptically. "Were you imprisoned before now, Ino?"

"Worse," she said brightly (and dramatically). "I was at work."

Which she... totally didn't mind. Shush.

[justwantsquiet]

"Noooooo!" Sookie wailed on her behalf, clasping a hand to her heart. "Not work! I'm glad that you've made it through a day of labor to come eat marshmallows, though."
