Fifth Floor Common Room, Monday Night

May 17, 2010 20:09

Tonight was the season finale of Rumor Gal, so of course Raven had commandeered the common room to watch it. It was going to be the perfect distraction from her father and Sebastian and strange boys on roofs telling her she was going to turn evil ( Read more... )

Sookie had been a bit subdued since the day prior, mostly out of worry for a certain someone out of town. But once she reached a certain point, she decided that even if she couldn't go outside because of the weather, she could at least go to the common room. Holing up in her room was a horrible idea.

And what a good decision that had been. "Ooh, Rumor Gal. Studying human emotion again?"

"They promise to be very strong tonight," Raven said, smiling at Sookie. "It is the end of the season. I hope it will not be a cliffhanger, though."

"I think cliffhangers are kind of inevitable with this kind of show," Sookie said, taking a seat. "It's how they guarantee that we'll come back in the fall."

"Emotional manipulation," Raven said, offering Sookie the bowl of popcorn. "I do not think I approve, but it has worked on me."

"It's super-effective, but a cheap trick," Sookie agreed. "There're better ways to tell a story, but I don't really expect them from Rumor Gal."

"I like the story it tells," Raven protested mildly. "I find it so very compelling!"

"Oh, I like the story, too!" she assured her. "But part of the reason it's compelling is 'cause they break it up so we need to know what's gonna happen next. So, catch me up. What's gonna happen in this finale tonight?"

Raven gave Sookie a quick rundown on the past few episodes. "Tonight will be very dramatic!" she said. "I am certain some couples will part, but I am hoping one will come back together."

"You think anyone'll die? Seems to be kind of a theme for season finales," she mused.

"I do not think so," Raven said ha ha ha. "This is not usually a show about violence and blood. I do not like that type of show."

"Me neither," Sookie admitted. "I'd rather watch something silly and people-focused than something with a billion explosions and gory stuff." She smiled a little. "I get enough sad stuff out of people's heads every day. You get it."

Raven nodded. "I understand that far too well," she said with a tiny smile of her own. "I block much of it out, but it is still there. This is a good distraction." She waved her hand toward the TV, then stopped and stared. "Oh, no," she said. "They are not going to...."

"...no, I think they are," Sookie replied, staring at the television. "Well. That's a way to go out with a bang."

Little did Trigon the Terrible know that the way to send his daughter over the edge was to watch the Rumor Gal season finale.

"They cannot do that!" Raven said. "That is not fair!"

"Hey, hey, it'll be okay," Sookie said, trying to reassure her. "We don't know what happened to him! He'll probably be okay!"

"But I do not wish to wait!" Raven said, agitated. "I must know now!" She took a breath, realizing she was starting to flail. "I am sorry," she said with a rueful smile. "I must seem very foolish."
