Third Floor Common Room, Wednesday Afternoon

Normally, he'd be out harassing Katchoo at this hour, but Katchoo was otherwise preoccupied and far be it for Arthur to acknowledge in any way, shape or form that he sort of missed her being human-shaped. Food, either way.

"Hey, y'r highness," she half-mumbled. "Howzit?"

"It is fine," Arthur said, charitably (it was charitable in that it didn't sound bitchy, which he felt was a charity all things considered). "Just enjoying the slow day." And this, Arthur, is where you say-- "And how would you say it is?" Good boy.

Claudia gave a rather unladylike snort. "Iunno." Yes, that was totally a word. "Haven't seen much of it, yet."

"Well, I'm sure that when you find out whatever it is, you'll please it with your presence," he said, pleasantly, biting down on a grape.

"I will," Claudia agreed, looking pleased. "I have a wonderful presence." She made her way over the fridge, the cold air waking her up a bit more. "What you suppose the chances are of the stove catching fire if I try to cook?"

"I believe there were some courses a while ago," he said, thoughtfully munching on said grape. "Last term? I don't keep track."

"Yeah, but what kinda good does that do us now? Not like I can go back to last semester and take the class." Or could she?

Look, if she was working with the theory that the island was wrapped in a temporal anomaly, then surely there was a way to -- oh hell. Probably some kind of paradox-saving "you can only go forwards within the island's time stream" loophole in the process or something.

Please don't mind the little pause there as she thought all that over. Time travel still gave her brain a small case of the hiccups.

Time travel, meanwhile, would have made Arthur's brain make sommersaults if he didn't have a whole section of said brain devoted to the task of ignoring such things.

"Maybe next semester," he hazarded.

"Always a chance. In the meantime, there's thankfully always cereal." She nodded to his choice of food. "And grapes."

"And grapes," Arthur agreed, holding up his bowl for a moment. "So I trust you've been settling in."

"Well, there's the whole 'having to reevaluate the laws of physics' thing, but other than that, sure."

"By which I take it you mean nothing makes sense," Arthur said, idly. "That's a difficult one, yes."

"It totally makes sense. I just . . . haven't worked out entirely how yet."
