5th Floor Common Room -- Sunday Evening

Dec 13, 2009 19:14

She'd managed to forget that there was a party going on until late enough that she'd have felt sort of weird showing up-not to mention 'bout the fact that Ino was a bit weirded out by the idea of showing up at some strange grown-up's place for a party-and so, with her Santa hat perched jauntily on her head, she'd wandered into her common room to ( Read more... )

Jaime had spent most of the weekend distracted, and when he'd wandered into the common room to make hot chocolate he'd discovered (to his horror) that there were no marshmallows. Which had led him on a quest. A quest that led to the fifth floor.

Where they better have marshmallows.

"You there!" he declared loudly as he walked into the room and spotted Ino. "With the Santa hat. Do you have marshmallows?" It probably have been more imperious if he didn't look and sound so utterly ridiculous.

"Of course I do," she said, tilting her head and raising an eyebrow. "But what're you willing to pay to get them?"

She had no clue if they had marshmallows or not. Ino hadn't put any in her hot chocolate.

This did not stop her from acting like she knew for sure that they totally did.

"Hmm... if you were to share your marshmallow bounty, I might be convinced to share... my cookie bounty." Of course Jaime walked around the dorms with cookies. He knew how things worked by now!

"What sort of cookies?" Ino asked interestedly. "I might be persuaded to share in that case."

"I have... chocolate chip, and... ginger snaps." He looked down at his cookies... Maybe he shouldn't share... they looked really good.

Ino oh so casually fished around in the cupboard where the marshmallows normally lived and was delighted when she found a bag.

"Chocolate chip in exchange for some of these?" she said, dangling the bad idly in one hand.

"Hmm... we'll have to work out a fair exchange rate, but I think I can work with that..."

"One and one isn't fair," she pointed out promptly. "Two marshmallows for a cookie."

"Two?" Jaime repeated. "Are these magical marshmallows that save the world?"

"Well," Ino said, glancing speculatively. "They could be. You never know."

This was Fandom, after all.

The Scarab totally would have told him. Probably. But he wasn't about to mention that he had an alien tactical computer in his head to someone he was bartering with for marshmallows.

"But I rather suspect they aren't. And since these cookies are magical, I don't think that's a fair trade." No they weren't.

Alien tactical computer was a bit overboard for a marshmallow barter, yes.

"Oh?" Ino asked archly. "Can you prove the cookies are magical?"

... oh, that was canny of her.

"Um... yes?" Yeah. That was really convincing.

"Prove it," she insisted, grinning at that. "Or else I've got to keep holding these marshmallows hostage."

"Fine then." Jaime ate a cookie. "Wow! THESE ARE AMAZING! They must be magical."

He was trying really hard to keep a straight face.

Ino wasn't even trying to keep a straight face at that and laughed.

"Amazing taste ain't magical," she pointed out. "My brother's a cook and his are awesome but they ain't in and of themselves magical 'less he's doing something weird with the fruit again."
