3rd floor Common Room, Thursday evening

Dec 03, 2009 21:50

Since the island was apparently heading into massive Christmas mood and totally insistent that she wear the elf costume no matter how many times she'd changed during the day, Momoko decided to do some practice Christmas baking in the common room. Finding a recipe online for Christmas cookies wasn't hard to do, and the ingredients were all there, ( Read more... )

Dinah followed her nose, accompanied by a ching-ching, ching-ching sound of all the bells on her elf costume and shoes. "Is there cooking? Can I help?" She grinned at Momoko. "Love the hat."

"Ahh Dinah! So cute! Lucky! I totally want bells, too, though!" Momoko laughed and gave her own hat's poofy-ball-thingie a tap. it made no noise. "See? No cute bells. You can totally help us! The more the merrier, which is totally perfect for Christmas cookies! Both the Merry and the More!"

"I'm just glad my shoes aren't too pointy. And you should see the hat the angel at the church was wearing today. It lit up and played 'Joy to the World'," Dinah said, bouncing over with another bell-chime. "I kind of love this side of Fandom, you know? Ooo, what should I do, spread the frosting?"

Ah! Momoko was totally envious of her bells, now.

"No way! A hat with lights and music? That sounds so cool!" She grinned. "Sure! Frost away! It is kind of fun when this stuff happens, but I just hope we don't get invaded by giant evil gingerbread men with licorice mustaches or something to make up for it."

Dinah kind of thought Momoko's was adorable-sexy, and wondered how she pulled that off so well.

"That would kind of take the fun out of it," Dinah allowed. "I know I've never looked at goldfish the same way, after they invaded last summer." She picked up a knife and started spreading frosting, careful not to waste it. "So are you going home for Christmas? Or sticking around?"

"Garland. It nearly strangled me last year!" Momoko had no clue she was doing anything remotely 'sexy', bless her heart. She was just stirring a bowl of cookie dough. Honest! "I'm probably going home, but I haven't made up my mind. My family will get mad if I don't, and probably no one will be here to hang out with. You?"

"Definitely going home. Helena would come and drag me back if I didn't, and yeah, I don't like to think how empty this place is going to be." Dinah made a face, then grabbed a little bottle of shiny red and green sprinkles to add to the frosting. "A garland strangled you? Seriously? Jeeez. I hope this doesn't get too much beyond eggnogg and adorable little trees." Ching!

Bell envy was a terrible thing among friends.

"That would be a horrible invasion! All of our parents coming to the island and dragging us off!" Momoko laughed. "And can you imagine what they'd say if they saw us today?! My sister would laugh her head off."

"Parents Weekend was bad enough," Dinah said, shuddering. "And oh god, no one can give photos of this to Helena! She'd never stop mocking me! She'd say I should be acting as bait for..." Uhhhh. Not bad guys, shhh. "Elf-nappers or something. Which one of your sisters would be laughing the loudest?"

Dinah would share the bells. If she could get the things off her wrists and ankles and hat!

"I only have one real sister, Kuriko. And she'd not only take pictures and laugh, but she'd probably put them online or something." Momoko rolled her eyes with a comical groan. "I'd never live it down."

"Gah. Thank God Barbara isn't the type to do that, and Helena never bothers to learn how." Dinah made a face and then had to take a lick of frosting. "But see, no photos! We're safe!"

Or so they believe. Who knows who got photos today.

"Yours is pretty adorable, too, you know." Wait... he hadn't meant to say that aloud. It implied that he thought both of them were adorable.

"And you look so cuuuute," Dinah said, laughing as she flicked the end of Jaime's hat. Totally getting the compliment and turning pink. Jaime was so good for her ego. "I love Momoko's. This is as good as the shiny hats it gave us way back in March. They had diamond bows on them."

Jaime was trying not to stare at Dinah, but that mostly meant looking over at Momoko and then trying not to stare at her. Which meant looking back at Dinah. It was enough to give a guy whiplash.

And the cute comment had him blushing and trying to focus on the cookies.

Dinah grabbed a spreading knife and started putting icing on the cookies. "So what have you been up to lately? I haven't seen you in ages! Did you go home for Thanksgiving?" Ching-ching!

"I did. I think my parents would have totally killed me if I hadn't." He grinned at the memory. "I even spent a couple of extra days since I don't have class at the beginning of the week."
