Zayne walked into the common room and gave Jaina a smile. "Morning. How are you, Jaina?"

"How hard is it to make eggs?" she asked.

"I don't think they're that hard, but I've never really tried to cook them," Zayne said. "So I could be completely wrong."

Jaina surveyed the mess again. "They're hard. Just so you know."

"At least you didn't set it on fire?" Zayne offered.

"Maybe tomoorrow. So. How are you?"

"Really good," Zayne said with a big grin. "My dad is here. I didn't know he was coming."

"So it's a good surprise?" Yes, she had to clarify. There didn't seem to be a lot of non-wtfy surprises from people from their galaxy.

"It is," Zayne said, nearly bouncing. "Master Lucien was supposed to come, but he had to go on a mission and my dad came instead. I haven't seen him in a few years."

Jaina smiled, glad to know at least some people just got to have a good time with this. "Good," she said, and tilted her head, "You get to keep in touch with your family in your time?"

"Not often, but every once in a while," Zayne said. "I think they give us a little bit of leeway since one of us lives on Taris, so he sees his family all the time."

"That's pretty astral," she said. "I thought Jedi were just taken away from their families and that was that before my uncle took over."

"I think that's how it's usually done, but we're trying different things on Taris," Zayne said. "Next year when we have our tests, there's even going to be a banquet that all of our families are actually invited to."

"Does that mean they get invited to your graduation?" They did things a little differently in Jaina's time.

"No, that's a private ceremony for just the graduating Padawans and the Masters," Zayne said.
