Dinner is served--and by 'served,' Karla means you can get it yourself. She said it wasn't fancy, remember? Lots of pizzas, lots of handwavy other sides, plenty of also handwavy drinks.

Help yourself. Also, eat more. Karla bought a lot.

Tahiri had no problem with the lack of fancy food, personally. The last couple of fancy dinners parties she'd been to had been made of epic awkwardness. She had several slices of different kinds of pizza, along with a plate of assorted vegetables just to make Karla happy.

Karla saw the vegetables and grinned. *Good,* she sent. *Though Ben's gotta eat some too!*

Celery sticks weren't ranked high on the flavor list, but she'd take them over a hubba gourd any day, and Tahiri grinned back as she crunched into one. I'll see what I can do about that!

Karla laughed. *Now your body may feel weird for a little while after this. It's enjoying this newfangled 'nutrition' thing. Don't worry, eat enough ice cream and it'll go back to the way it was before.*

Tahiri sent a pointed glance toward the ice cream table. Somehow, I don't think that's going to be a problem.

Tahiri laughed out loud. They might have a pint of vanilla left, maybe!

Speaking on psychic threads was wonderful! It meant eating and talking at the same time!

Tahiri had eaten . . . almost half of one. For her that was a lot, but she could probably pack away the other half too.

And it was neat to be able to communicate psychically with someone; she wasn't good enough of a telepath to manage it with most people.

I think they'll live. They could probably tell Ben and I were going to be here, huh?

*I had to explain what a lightsaber was, but as soon as they heard my description, they knew exactly who it was for,* Karla sent, amusement apparent on the psychic thread. *I think I got as far as 'short, blonde female' when they finished with 'barefoot? Will she be with the redheaded boy?' And then they gave me more ice cream.*

Tahiri ducked her head and started laughing hard enough that her shoulders shook. Well, as reputations go it could be a lot worse, I guess!
