Third floor common room- Thursday night

The plan had been to curl up in the common room with a datapad so she could catch up on reports. She'd put the TV on for noise, just because she wasn't in the mood for silence today. This had changed said plan.

Lois, well, recognized the back of Jaina's head and couldn't not come in. She had been home for a few days now and hadn't been to see her.

She leaned against the back of the sofa and smiled down at Jaina. "John dances better."

While Jaina'd know there was someone behind her, it was really great to be able to look up and see Lois there. "That goes without saying. You're back!" she said, getting up, because hugs were required.

Hugs were mostly definitely required. "I'm back! And, miraculously, in one piece and tattoo-free."

Giving said requisite hug, she admitted, "I'm surprised about the last part. How was Germany?"

"It was fun once I brushed up on my German," she said. "The first week or two involved a lot of hand signals. I think I scared some of the natives with my gesturing."

"I'm sure that was at least entertaining?" she guessed.

[armybrat_lois]

"Hell yeah it was," she said, laughing. "How have you been? Sorry I kind of failed on the whole phone call thing."

"Oh, don't worry about it," she said, waving a hand. "I've been busy. Going between here and home and California. Have you talked to John at all?"

"I really failed on the whole phone call thing," Lois amended. The different timezone thing confused her, okay?

"His time moves six times as fast as ours now," she replied. "He's starting his second year of college soon."

[armybrat_lois]

"See, it's crazy stuff like this that I've missed," Lois said, shaking her head. "He'll be getting gray hair before I can legally drink."

"Oh, and he has no hair, really," Jaina said helpfully. "AFROTC."

[armybrat_lois]

"Ah, yes. I'm quite familiar with what that 'do looks like." Should be, considering where she's been all summer. "At least that has to look better than the time he let Dawn cut his hair, right?"

"It does. You know, you bring that up and it makes me want to remind him."

[armybrat_lois]

"When it comes to humiliating things that has happened to John my mind is like a steel trap," Lois said, tapping her temple with a finger. "Though that's one humiliation I didn't get on tape."

"I didn't either. He'll be happy you're back. You're better at capturing everyone's embarrassment than me." It was totally a compliment.
