Third floor common room- Thursday night

The plan had been to curl up in the common room with a datapad so she could catch up on reports. She'd put the TV on for noise, just because she wasn't in the mood for silence today. This had changed said plan.

"I can't believe datapads haven't changed more since my time," Zayne - a dork - said, recognizing it immediately. "Oh, and good evening."

"Hi," she said with a little smile. "You must be either really distracted or really focused to notice that first."

"I'm always distracted when I notice stuff like that," Zayne said. "I mean, it's been a few thousand years. It just stuns me that things didn't advance more."

"I guess this means they got it right the first time," she said, now looking over her datapad. "It really hasn't changed?"

"Mine's a little bigger, I guess, and I'm sure yours has more features, but it looks pretty much the same," Zayne said with a shrug.

"You probably wouldn't let me take yours apart, would you?" asked the mechanics geek.

"Would you be able to put it back together?" Zayne asked. He was curious.

[solo_sword]

"It's me," Jaina replied, then realized he probably didn't know what that meant. "I mean, of course."

"As long as you promise not to lose any of my notes, sure," Zayne said, pulling the datapad out of its case on his belt. "It'll be interesting to find out how far technology's come."

[solo_sword]

"And I will be able to give you a full report," Jaina said, face lighting up. "I can't remember the last time I took something apart for fun. That's not right."

"Well, I'm glad I could put an end to that drought," Zayne said with a big grin. "I didn't realize you were big into mechanical stuff."

[solo_sword]

"Since I was little. I don't seem to have much of a chance now, outside of working on ships," she explained.

"I'd give you more things to take apart, but pretty much all I have is the datapad and my lightsaber," Zayne said with a slightly apologetic shrug. "A life without possessions means you don't get much to fiddle around with."

"That's why I stole stuff from the junkyard and started building," she grinned.

"Really? What have you built?" Zayne asked.

[solo_sword]

"I built a hoverboard entirely out of spare parts." It was actually the last thing she'd worked on here.
