So did Elle, which was why she was invading a common room that wasn't hers. Shush, it was practically one of the official Fandom High pastimes.

"Why are you talking to the TV?" Elle asked as she wandered in, plopping down on a couch.

"Hm? Oh! I was more just talkin' to the air. Martha Stewart got herself arrested!" Sookie said unhappily.

"How the hell'd she do that?" Hey, when you were from 1999, you needed to know these things.

"Insider trading," Sookie recited, just a touch sadly.

"... then she's an idiot."

Of course, Elle thought that more because the woman had gotten caught than anything else, but hey.

"I don't even know what insider trading is," Sookie admitted shyly. "But she shouldn't've done it."

[tasenburn]

"She shouldn't have gotten caught, that's for sure," Elle said. "Greedy bitch, trying to make more money than the crapload she's already got."

Hey, even in Elle's time (okay, Sookie's as well), the woman was well off.

Sookie did everything she could to not raise her brows at the language there. "Well, she shouldn't have done it in the first place. It's amoral and she's got a ton of money already, doesn't she? Why does she need more?"

"Because some people never think they have enough," Elle said. "They always want more than what they have, even if what they have is more than good enough."

"I just didn't think Martha Stewart was one of those people," Sookie said sadly. "She's the reason I know how to make a centerpiece out of a couple pinecones and some construction paper!"

Well wasn't that just... special. "Her being an idiot doesn't invalidate the fact that you've got some mean centerpiece skills."

Aww, that was sweet. "I'm Sookie, by the way," she added. "Figure you should know my name if you have to listen to my Martha woes."

"I'm Elle," she replied with a smile. "And hey, I don't mind. Wouldn't sit here and listen if I did." She shrugged. "Plus meeting new people? Always worth it."

"I tend to agree!" Sookie said happily. "Plus, sounds like you didn't know, either. Are you from the past too?"

"Yeah," Elle said, nodding. "1999, actually."

"Me too!" Sookie said excitedly. "I was born in '83! Ain't it weird being ten years out of time?"
