"Well that reminds me of home," Riggins commented as he was walking by the campfire. What? He was from Texas. "Did you catch that yourself?"

"Didn't really expect anyone around here to hunt for their food," Riggins said. "But I assume you're in it for the hunting part, not the needing food part."

"The hunting's good fun," he agreed, checking on the meat over the fire. "The eating's just a pleasurable result."

"Where I'm from we usually just use hunting as an excuse to get drunk in the woods," Riggins admitted with a smirk.

"Now that would be an excellent way to wind up with a crossbow bolt lodged in your skull," Arthur said, amused, "But whatever best pleases you."

"Nah, we're Texans. We're used to doing everything drunk," he said, chuckling. "But it's been a while since I've used a crossbow so you might be right about the danger getting drunk in that situation."

"Mine are actually hand me downs from my father and brother," Riggins told him. "Where I'm from you can get them easy enough but I'm guessing it's a bit harder to get a gun in Maryland than in Texas. We do things differently down South."

"How's that, then?" No one had ever bothered to tell Arthur anything about the south, and beyond the wars...

"Well, if all the stereotypes are to be believed, and they aren't, we're a bunch of drunks who sit out on our front porches with shotguns in our laps, just achin' for a fight," Riggins said, laughing a little. "But I like to think we just trust each other to not do anything too stupid so that's why we let our kids learn to shoot and why we don't freak out over having a gun in the house."

"I don't see the issue," said Arthur, who had been learning how to shoot from right around age six-to-eight. "But then a great deal of these people are very strange about weapons."

Not looking at Claudia.
