After her class, Tara roamed back toward her cabin and settled on a rock, near the flames, mostly just to think.

And then she realized she was being weird and hadn't seen her cabinmate for a couple days. "Layla. Hey. Did you go home or something?"

"Hey Tara," Layla said with a wave. "Nope. I spent the last five days as a set of encyclopedias. You seem pretty deep in thought. Everything okay?"

Tara nodded. "Yeah. It's fine. Just ... putting things together, you know?"

She shrugged. "How were you encyclopedias?"

"I turned into a set of them," Layla replied, "Which isn't uncommon around here. Most people tend to turn into animals but apparently the island has a sense of humor."

Tara wrinkled her nose. "I heard. I r-r-really hope it lets me stay girl-shaped. But you didn't get any paper cuts or anything when you turned back?""

"Oh, no," Layla replied. "Mostly I was just stiff and feeling a little fuzzy headed. A walk to town cleared that up for the most part. I just wished I was something a little more mobile, especially for everything coming to life this weekend."

"Nothing came to life for me," Tara said, shrugging a little. "It was weird. I was almost used to the people who already live here and then there were a bunch of people who aren't people."

"At least they all turned back to normal," Layla said with a nod. "Though Deadpool might be a little disappointed about his swords becoming normal again."

"Deadpool like the professor?" Tara asked. "He didn't say anything about hos swords in class."

[iknowstuff]

"Well Wade isn't known for being in his right mind," Layla said as she put her dog on a bun. "I've learned it's best to stay on his good side."

Which made Tara look confused. "Who's Wade? D-do you know him from home or something?"

[iknowstuff]

"Wade is Deadpool's name," Layla explained. "He and I aren't from the same universe though it's pretty close."

"I should have guessed Deadpool wasn't an actual name."

A pause.

"He's kind of strange. I mean, in class."

[iknowstuff]

"Would it help you to know he's strange everywhere?" Layla said with a good deal of humor.

Tara laughed. "I am so very not surprised."

"Yeah," Layla smirked. "He's a bit of a live-wire."
