Something that was probably a good move on her part, and for everyone, considering that she wasn't the most openly friendly sort to begin with, and that would really only be compounded by jetlag and getting sent away to this fucking place. Raven knew she couldn't hide in her cabin all the time, so she might as well go outside and meet more of the other students. She tentatively approached the main campfire. It didn't seem too crowded now, at least. And she could always excuse herself if it got to be too much.

"Hello," she said hesitantly as she neared the fire.

Effy glanced up from the fire, quirking just a slight bit of a smile. Aww, look. A shy one!

"Hello," she returned, cocking her head as she watched the girl.

"Is it acceptable if I join you all here?" Raven asked, despite the fact that it was a public place and she didn't have to. She was nervous and did not want to offend anyone.

"Free campfire, as far as I know," Effy replied. It meant yes, but she was a strange one, and just saying yes was far too easy. "Sit."

"Thank you," Raven said, settling on one of the logs surrounding the fire. "I am Rachel. I am a new student here."

"I'm Effy," she told her in return. Look at her, being all nice and sociable! She could manage that, from time to time. "New too."

"You have an accent," Raven stated. "Where are you from?"

"England," Effy replied, fiddling absently with her bottle as she kept her eyes on the other girl. She was another one with a very... unusual, air about her.

"That little island across the big ocean."

Unusual was an understatement.

Raven nodded. "I have a basic grasp of geography," she said. "I can locate most countries on a map. I enjoyed studying England in particular. The history was quite fascinating."

Never could be sure. Crazy people around here kept asking her what dimension she was from. It seemed best to cover all her bases.

"I've heard people say so," she allowed. It couldn't be said it was Effy's scene, particularly. "You aren't from around here either?" It wasn't really a question, rather something Effy had picked up from just being around her.

"My mother is from this world," Raven said, "but I was raised elsewhere."

From this world? Another one, seriously? Effy resisted the urge to roll her eyes and took another swig from her drink.

She needed it.

From the way she then offered it to Rachel, it might be evident she thought she wasn't the only one who needed it.

Raven accepted the bottle. "Is this water?" she asked. "Or soda?" She had enjoyed the drink Joan had given her earlier in the day.

"Not exactly," Effy replied. "It's local to Russia." Or she could just say it was vodka. But no.

Raven nodded and tilted the bottle to take a gulp of the liquid. She wasn't expecting the strange taste, and she definitely wasn't expecting it to burn down her throat. Fortunately she managed to not drop the bottle as she started to cough.

Ah, yes, that was definitely the mark of someone new to liquor.

"You okay?" she asked a few moments later, hopefully when the girl had recovered a little.
