Ben leaned in the doorway, watching her for a moment. "You're stiff," he observed.

"You're too observant sometimes," Tahiri told him, shaking her head with a slight smile.

"Why are you stiff?" Ben asked, thinking that was a more important thing to know.

"Stun bolts hurt," she said as casually as she could.

Ben's eyebrows drew together. "How many times did you get hit?"

"A lot," Tahiri said, a touch defensive. "Which sort of means I was right about having a lot more work to do."

"You're not supposed to keep going until you limp," Ben lectured.

Tahiri flushed a bit, but gave him a look. "I seem to recall an incident with you climbing ropes in gym class."

"Just because I'm dumb doesn't mean you need to be dumb too," Ben said.

"I needed something to do," Tahiri said, not arguing the point, because he was right.

"Why?" Ben asked softly. He knew a little bit about working yourself into exhaustion. It was the only way he slept these days.

"Because some people don't know how to shut up and leave me alone for a few hours lately," Tahiri said, giving him a significant look. She didn't, of course, mean him.

"So you went for the Jedi weapon to piss her off?" Ben replied.

[weetuskenraider]

That . . . hadn't been the intent, but it had been the result. "Pretty much."

Ben frowned again. "Telling you not to do that won't do any good, huh."

"It's the only thing I can think of," Tahiri said, feeling bad for upsetting him. "I don't know how else to deal with it."
