Just Outside the Main Gate, Friday Morning

Apr 03, 2009 16:32

He'd been assessing people resources for most of the previous day. Since there had yet to be word from Lady Zoe, Arthur took the opportunity today to scope out how much space there would be for a barricade - if one could even be feasibleThis brought him to the area just outside the gates, wearing full armor and backed by Merlin-the-idiot-sorcerer, ( Read more... )

After Movie Class, Dinah grabbed her boomerangs, baseball bat, and eskrima sticks, and most importantly cell phone, and headed out to see how she could help.

Hunh. That was easier than she'd thought it would be. "Hey guys. Where should I go?"

"Back into the castle." Arthur was aware it was probably futile. Arthur was going to try regardless. Once.

Merlin couldn't help but agree with that one. "We're just assessing for a barricade, Dinah."

"Then there's no reason I can't stay and help assess," Dinah said, folding her arms. "Have you guys actually fought any of these yet?" She might have been checking on Merlin for signs of extra stress.

"I've fired my crossbow at some from afar," Arthur repied, tersely. "But that's hardly important right now." Pause. "Keep watch, then."

Merlin shook his head, not about to compare the Wraith to these. He was going to just defer to Arthur on this one. The less danger people were in, the happier he was, though.

"Cool. I've got all this," she gestured to her weaponry, "And I told Tony where I was. He was doing research before, trying to find out something definitive about zombies. If he finds something he'll call me." Dinah wanted to ask Merlin how he was doing, but figured it was a stupid question, really. And it wasn't the kind of thing you wanted to bring up around Arthur.

"Pass on the knowledge if you get it," Arthur said, and turned to take a good look at the gates.

"Be careful, Dinah."

"You too," Dinah pointed at him, face worried. "Do you want my bat? Or one of my eskrima sticks?" She looked around. "Do you have a weapon at all?"

"He'll be fine," Arthur said. He might've sounded a little short. "Worry about yourself, Dinah."

Dinah gave him a confused look for that, then decided he was probably worried about Merlin too, and looking out for him. "'kay."

Not arguing when she didn't have a plan. This whole thing kind of felt above her paygrade when it came to strategizing. She wished Barbara was here to tell her what to do; was equally glad she wasn't.

"Arthur?" Dinah came by after helping Tahiri set up the beginnings of the barrier, now more than a few feet high and steep on the side facing the road. "If you're talking to Principal Winchester, maybe you could ask her if there's a reason not to dig a trench in front of the barrier? I was thinking maybe Ronan could do that, with magic. If he can, I'm not sure, though. But I don't want to hit sewer lines or anything that's going to flood the road."

Ronan. Magic. His father wouldn't think very highly of that idea, but unfortunately, time was running out to contend with that. "...There's... lines... underneath the ground?"

Okay, and there was that part.

"Pipes?" Dinah offered. "Maybe. To get the water inside and out. It'd flood, if they're here at the gate, which might keep zombies away but it'd cut off the chance of anyone getting in, too. But there should be maps that the Principal can check to see if they're here, or running on the other side of the buildings." She bit her lip. "Ronan managed to melt and heat up a huge rink of ice that was in the theatre a few weeks ago. If he can do something similar with earth, well. It'd be great. We don't have time for shovels, is the thing."

Merlin could probably manage it as well.

He chewed on his lip and considered the barricade that was starting to take shape. "I'll be seeking an audience with her as soon as I can," he said, "I'll make mention of it."
