Mar 14, 2009 13:04

It was morning, and morning meant breakfast! And there weren't enough adults around to feed them, and Warren needed food. So he was gonna make some, 'cause he liked cooking anyhow! Anemone and him were going to make pancakes, and cereal, and scrambled eggs, and... Well. Mostly pancakes ( Read more... )

Not only was Buffy still big, but no one had warned her about this.

Which was why upon going to the common room to grab something for breakfast, she was left with "...Oh god."

Momoko looked up from her cereal and waved. "Hiiii! Want some ceril? There's a whole bunches left and it's the good kind with lots of moshmellows and there's some with red berries! Want some?"

"Moshmellows," she repeated, still wondering if she was in the right... common room, town, reality, whatever. "Uh, I think I can get it myself. What's your name?"

Start out with the little questions, work up to 'wtf'. In kid-friendly language.

Momoko nodded. "Yep! Lotses of moshmellows! I like the pink ones best though cause that's a heart and heartses are pretty and sometimes they have flowers but not in this." She pointed to her bowl. Well, in her bowl, actually. "And I'm Momoko! I'm almost four so I gots my ceril all by myself, too!"

Buffy quickly looked around for the mess that she may have to clean up. "Yep, making cereal by yourself is totally the mark of a big girl," she agreed.

Wet and dry cereal on the floor, milk on the counter - nothing major on this side. Wait till she saw what was happening with the pancake crew...

"Ahuh! An' I has a big bed, too!" She threw her hands up and cheered. "It's back in my room with Mr Bear cause he wasn't hungry but I was so I came here for breakfes like this!" She swallowed another spoonful of cereal and grinned. "See?"

Buffy was so gonna make the troll janitor come up here. "And you went straight for the sugar. That'll be fun real soon," she predicted.

Momoko smiled. "That's what Mama says sometimes and she makes me eats real berries instead of ceril ones and eggs and," she stumbled over this word, "trah-dish-al? breakfes stuffs but then Papa says Momoko's happy activy doesn't seem to work that way and Mama says well sugar is no helps." She shrugged and had another mouthful of cereal.

"I can see your mom's point," Buffy said, because that was about all she got from that. "What about something like toast? Could you go for toast? Countermand the sugar?"

"Toast, please! With lotsa jelly?" Momoko bounced in her seat and nodded eagerly. "And who's Counter Man? Is he new? I didn't see his show yet but he sounds boring. What powers does he gots?"

She was pretty sure jelly had sugar. "I think we're out of jelly. Maybe if we try butter." High cholesterol, totally better. "And he is... He had a show on Fox that got canceled. Maybe because his powers were trying to normalize sugar crashes. Yeah, boring."

"Outta jelly? Shoulda gone to the store. Oh well." Momoko blew a soft sigh and shrugged, lifting her hands for a moment.

"Counter Man has a fox? That sounds like a good show cept letting things crash is not a good power, it's a bad thing. Is Counter Man the bad guy?" She reached for her bowl to drink her leftover milk, sloshing it as she pulled it towards her.

Oooh, an adult! Or something kinda like one, which was close enough.

"Hi," Warren said, waving with a somewhat gooey hand. "We're making pancakes. Want some?"

His mom always told him he was supposed to share. His dad had told him that his mom was silly, but if sharing meant that someone else would be put to use...

"I need help working the stove."

"I'm so glad you asked for help on things that make fire," Buffy said. "Yeah, I can help. Are you making for everyone?" She saw her morning vanishing into a kid-fueled haze at the possibility, but at last she'd get breakfast.

Warren nodded, at that.

"I think we have enough for everyone. We used all of the eggs." And they'd even picked the shells out with their bare hands! "And I don't really need help with fire things. But there are little kids here."

He was seven. Which made him a big kid.

Awww, he was cute. "Gotta set a good example," she said with a smile. "What's your name?"
