"Jambalaya," Sookie answered, smiling over at the new girl. "And berry cobbler. Sorry, I got kinda homesick and cooked to compensate. You can help yourself, though."
"Gremlins are bad, but sometimes unavoidable. If you can think of anything wee tiny? It's possible here. Glitter makes boys kiss and girls kiss when there are girlkissy parites. Umm," Amber wasn't trying to break her brain, seriously. "We can go to bed ourselves and wake up as kids, or we can have future kids of ours visit. Sometimes? There are invasions." Dun dun dun!
"No, no, it's okay," she said, still looking confused, "I just thought that the time travel and the other planets and all that might be the end of the weirdness. Silly me."
"That's the easy part," Amber told her around a bite. "I woke up a guy once," she nodded, swallowed. "Had the whole man package and everything. And I wasn't the only one. It affect all of us girls."
"Don't know how. Girls were guys and it was so weird. I mean, we all had an... it," and really, she'd thought hers kind of spetacular. Not that she'd say that out loud. "Only lasted like a day or so. That's usually how things go around here."
"Wow," Sookie said. It belatedly occurred to her that Amber might be pulling her leg, and she reached out into her mind, just to see. "That's...certainly different from home."
Amber totally wasn't. "I was pretty hot, if I do say so myself. And yah, most everything here for everyone is different from home. Anyone's home. Somehow we all live, breathe, and get along quite well. It's amazing."
Yeah, she seemed to completely believe what she was saying. Which Sookie found deeply reassuring, in a weird way. "I guess that's comforting. If it's different for everyone, then we're all kinda in it together."
