"Sometimes protecting yourself means more than just knowing how to knock out an attacker," said Hoshi. "We've already talked about having a plan in case you're attacked. But what do you do if you're in a burning building? Do you know the fastest way to get out? Do you get out, or do you go find your friends first?"
Hoshi passed out some information packets before continuing. It was worth noting that there was lots of
reading material. She
may have gone a little overboard. "So I've been reading stuff about how people behave during a disaster, and unfortunately, a lot of people tend to freeze up during in an emergency because that's their first instinct. Their next response to is communicate with others around them or go looking for others.
There's even cases when people go back to the bar for another drink before getting out of a burning restaurant. Unfortunately, that means most people lose valuable time when they could be getting to safety. Today, we're going to share our experiences on surviving disasters and work on creating escape plans for when the unthinkable happens. Oh, and the punching bags are still set up, if any of you guys still want to work out."
