Lupus Campfire, Thursday Night

The rain was threatening, again, and the day was cool enough that Ella was wearing a cloak over her blouse and skirt. But she'd spent too much time reading in her alcove lately, and wanted to spend more time outdoors before they left the cabins entirely. She neatly built a small campfire, half-wishing she'd bought some marshmallows to roast over it

"Oooooh, campfire!" Rikku bounced over to it. "Oh, man, I love the dorms and all? But I'm gonna miss this. Just ... starting a fire and having all kinds of people drop by."

"G-Good evening," Hinata said, offering a somewhat nervous smile at the other girl. "A-And, yes the f-fire's a-are nice."

"Hiya!" Rikku waved at the girl she didn't recognize. "I'm Rikku. You're not in this cabin, right? 'Cause if I just missed you and never said hi, that's kinda rude."

She flushed slightly as she shook her head. "I'm in D-Draco," Hinata offered, "so n-no rudeness o-occured. It is n-nice to meet y-you Rikku-san. I'm Hinata."

"Draco," Rikku said, frowning. "I know somebody in Draco, and I totally don't remember who. I'd tell you to say hi to them otherwise. Oh, well, I'll see them sooner or later, right? I usually just wander around the campfires chatting with people anyway, you know?"

She wasn't sure what to say to that, really. Hinata nodded. "I h-have been trying to d-do the same," she offered. "It's n-not so b-bad wandering."

"It really isn't," Rikku chirped. "You meet all kinds of neat people. Are you new here? It's nice here, honest. Good school, cool people, everybody's friendly."

[shyest_eyes]

"I s-started j-just this t-term," she admitted, "so I s-suppose I'm s-still new. And y-yes, everyone is v-very nice so f-far. H-Have you b-been here l-long?"

"Last January," Rikku said cheerfully. "The time just flies. I'm a senior already, which means I have to go next year. I don't want to, that sucks. What year are you, anyway?"

"Y-You could a-always deliberately f-fail?" Hinata suggested. "A-And they t-tell me I'm a S-Sophomore."

"I don't think they let you do that," Rikku mused. "Cause I think Dawn was gonna and it didn't work. Sophomore means you've got lots of time, it'll be good."

[ella_obeys]

"It is nice," Ella smiled. "And Turtle made me look again, so I even found marshmallows."

"I'll miss hanging around like this when we're back in the dorms."

"Oooooh, score! Do we have enough for s'mores?" Rikku looked around hopefully. "I can totally scrounge up some chocolate if we need it. And there's always common rooms, at the dorms. Those are pretty fun, too. No fire or anything, but people hanging out anyway."

"The bag's almost full," Ella told her, holding it out. "We have the little cracker things, but ... I didn't see chocolate."

She smiled. "That's good, to know people still talk back in the dorms."

"Always," Rikku said, smiling in what she hoped was a reassuring kinda way. "You get people wandering by and watching TV and just blabbing at each other. And we'll be back here, later in the summer, you know?"

She bounced up, inspired. "Okay. On a hunt for some chocolate! Wish me luck!"

"Babbling at each other is an excellent way to meet people. And good luck on mission: Chocolate," Ella bade her.
