Lupus Campfire, Thursday afternoon

May 22, 2008 12:20

Sokka had never heard of "jazz hands". That didn't stop the three beret-wearing hamsters from trying to teach Momo Jr. how to do it. Sokka wasn't really sure how to handle his pet's newfound love of expression through dance, so he just sat and stared blankly at the little show ( Read more... )

Mac paused to watch for a minute as she made her way back to her own cabin.

"That's... different," she remarked. "Guess you didn't teach them that?"

Sokka blinked. "...Nope. The hamster-mice just sort of showed up and started dancing, and Momohead joined in. It's sort of hypnotizing, though. I mean, I can't look away."

Sokka: mesmerized by the hamsterdance.

"Alien hamsters sent to ensnare and brainwash," Mac said. "Obviously."

"Hope they don't get to Poe, too."

... Yeah, not gonna happen. Way too much emo in that lemming for jazz handsing.

"Not aliens," Sokka corrected. "Fandomonians." He shrugged. "Probably'll be gone tomorrow. Who's Po?"

"Yeah," Mac agreed, deciding not to explain her brand of sarcasm. Never did work as well when you had to tell people after.

"My lemming. Looks a little like that," she said nodding towards the hamster. "But with less dancing... And cuter."

"Pfft. Not cuter than Momo Jr., though," Sokka challenged. No, he'd never seen the lemming. "Bring him out -- we'll start a little rodent conga line."

Mac nodded with a little smirk. She was confident in his infinite cuteness. "Be right back," she said, before popping back to her own cabin for a few minutes.

When she came back, she was cradling her conga line contribution.

Poe was not impressed. Not that you could really tell that, he looked just like he always did.

"He's fairly cute, I suppose," Sokka told her. "But can he dance?"

The hamsters took off their berets and waved them as part of the dance; Momo Jr. tried to copy them, but just looked silly without a beret of his own. Silly, and CUTE.

"Probably," Mac said. Whether he would was another matter entirely.

She looked at Poe as he eyed his route off her hands, towards the floor and perhaps the sweet end he had desired for so long.

When he made a beeline for that, he was of course stopped by Mac who moved her hands so he'd just keep running until she lowered him to the ground. He didn't dance.

Looked like death was not on the menu today.

Sucked for Poe.

Sokka completely missed the suicidal, lemming-like tendencies of that little performance. "Jumpy little guy, isn't he?"

"Mmm." Mac nodded thoughtfully. She'd been not noticing his emo lemming tendencies for years. "That's pretty normal," she said.

He was currently fixing the hamsters and Momo Jr. with a glum stare. Poe was obviously not feeling the jazz hands.

"I think he likes them," she determined. After all, to her it just looked like he was watching them, mesmerized like everyone else.

"Well, if he wants to just watch and not join in, that's his choice, I guess." He looked at Mac as if really seeing her for the first time. "...You're that library chick, right? I forget your name."

Library chick. That was a new one.

Mac arched an eyebrow and nodded. "That's probably me... Mac," she added.

"'Mac', like the really annoying guy in the commercial who's always being mean to his friend?" Sokka asked. "I'm Sokka -- as in 'rock ya'."

She smirked at Sokka's intro. "I'll be sure to remember that."

"And it's Mac, short for Mackenzie," she corrected, glancing over at Poe again to make sure he was still playing nice. "Similarities to guys in computer ads, completely unintentional."

"Well, aside from the name, there's really not much of a similarity," Sokka pointed out. "For one thing, he's not NEARLY as cute."

Two of the hamsters were still jazz-hands-ing with Momo Jr., but the third was holding its beret in one hand and a stick in the other, and was trying to engage Poe in a call-and-response tap dance.
