Third Floor Common Room: Sunday Morning

Apr 27, 2008 09:15

It had been a long night and for some reason the kids were early risers. So it was a pretty groggy Mel who dragged her kids down the hallway and started setting them up with bowls of cereal and turned on TV in the hopes that it would keep them occupied until the coffee began to work.

"Ron. Seriously. It's a potted plant. Stop hugging it."

Maggie was an early riser, too, and hungry, so she snuck out of her Mom and Dad's room and padded into the common room one of Dawn's t-shirts looking for something to eat. What she found was even better. People! That meant she wouldn't have to cook, which meant she wouldn't have to break the no turning on the stove rule. "Hi!" She stopped right next to Mel, and the coffee pot.

"Hi," Mel said with a grin. "Want some breakfast?"

"Yup. And some coffee?" She asked, hopefully. No one let her have coffee, but maybe Aunt Mel would be okay with it. "Sorry I didn't get to go patrolling with you, but Daddy said Mommy and Aunt Buffy would have beat him with sticks."

Mel raised an eyebrow at the girl. Mommy and Aunt Buffy... Definitely Dawn's kid.

"Aren't you a little young for coffee?" she asked handing a bowl of Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs.

Maggie sighed and accepted the bowl, looking around for a spoon. Lying to Aunt Mel wasn't a good idea. "That's what Mommy and Daddy always say."

"How about some OJ instead," Mel suggested as she tossed her a spoon. "Well if I know you're mom, she's the smartest there is."

"Okay." Maggie caught the spoon with only a little fumbling. "She's smart about languages and demons and stuff, but sometimes she gets confused about things like coffee. Plus, she kisses Daddy, and boys are yuck, so she can't be the smartest all the time."

"Does that mean your Daddy is yuck?" Mel asked. "Because some boys are pretty okay."

She shook her head solemnly in disagreement. "Daddy isn't a boy. Daddy is Daddy."

"Even if he has girly hair?" Mel teased.

"He doesn't have girly hair! And anyway, I like it." She took a spoonful of cereal. "Did you kill anything good yesterday?"

"Nope, there's nothing much around here at the moment," Mel said with an amused look. "Just more kids than usual. That's been taking up most of my time."

"How many've you got? Mom's got two."

"I got three," Mel said looking at them and shaking their head. "That one over there is Loo and the other two are Robin and Ron."

"I'm pretty sure the last two would break your mom's brain."
