The Dorm Stairwell, Saturday Late Morning

Apr 12, 2008 13:39

Ino was running slightly late for her regular trip to the Diner, and so her concentration was more on tying her hair up than paying attention to who else might, you know, be coming up the stairs. A quick turn 'round the corner, one last tug and her hair was neatly pulled back, elastic tight.

Still not with the whole paying attention thing though.

Makoto
Makoto was, in fact, just leaving 'her' room and starting up the stairs to go and read up on the roof. Juggling 'her' book, a thermos, and a blanket, 'she' smiled slightly.

So far, so good. Almost a semester and nothing from 'her' Dad yet. Maybe 'she'd' get to stay.

Ino
Ino noticed the other girl a bit too late, just as she turned the corner, getting a quick impression of long blonde hair and height, and then, well...

They'd collided.

This so wasn't her day.

Makoto
They certainly collided. And Makoto went down with a startled cry in a sprawl of limbs, book, thermos and blanket. One hand shot up immediately to make sure that 'her' wig didn't move.

"Ow..."

Ino
"I'm sorry!" she said, scrambling to her feet as soon as she could, and automatically offering the other girl a hand up. "Are you okay?"

Makoto
Makoto took the hand after a moment, satisfied for now that the wig was still in place and that nothing was bruised except, perhaps, 'her' dignity.

"I'm fine," 'she' assured the smaller girl. "I should've been watching more carefully."

Ino
That made her laugh, not believing it for one second. "Oh, don't," Ino said, smiling a bit ruefully. "Totally all my fault, you'd think I'd know to pay attention to my surroundings by now but apparently that's not happening."

Makoto
"Why don't we just say it was both our faults and go with that?" Makoto knelt down to gather 'her' book, and blanket and glancing around for the thermos. Now where had it gone? "I don't think we've been formally introduced either, though I've seen you around. I'm Makoto."

Ino
Ino glanced around too, following the other girl's gaze.

"You'll find that no matter how long you're around you can never meet everyone." She laughed a bit. "Ino. And I promise I'm not nearly so clumsy as this meeting's probably made you think."

Makoto
"You're the girl that works at the 'scary place'?" Makoto asked.

Ah! There was the thermos. 'She' stepped to get it.

Ino
...

"Scary place?"

Makoto
"That's what radio calls it," Makoto told her. "You don't listen to the radio?"

Ino
Ino looked indignant. "Wellspring Arms is not a scary place!"

Makoto
That got a raised eyebrow, as 'she' scooped up the thermos and added it to 'her' armful. "I'm just calling it as the radio calls it, I'm sure it's a fine place."

Scary was entirely dependant on your point of view after all.

Ino
""It's an awesome place," Ino said crossly. "Not scary. Geez."

Makoto
Makoto shrugged slightly. "I've never been there, so I can't say either way. But guns aren't exactly 'safe' to a lot of people."

Ino
"People are cowards," she said, mustering up a smile. "Oh well. That just means I don't have to deal with them in the store."

Makoto
Makoto... wasn't going to argue with Ino about that. 'She' suspected that it wouldn't do any good.

"There's that," Makoto said agreeably, shifting 'her' armful of things.

Ino
Ino looked rueful again, though still indignant under it all. "I'll let you get on with, you know, whatever," she said. "I've got places to be myself, you know."

Makoto
It was on the tip of 'her' tongue to say that, no 'she' hadn't known.

"Thanks," Makoto said, with a quick smile, already moving up the stairs. "It was nice to meet you."

Ino
"Likewise," Ino said, frowning a bit as the other girl left.

Wellspring Arms was not a scary place.

Geez.

[Ino’s around for interaction, and preplayed with…uh, myself. Yes. Hush.]
