The Roof - Early Wednesday Morning

Cassandra didn't sleep much. And the truth was that she was oddly comfortable on top of roofs. It hadn't taken long in Fandom for her to realize that while it wasn't uncommon for people to be on the roof at night, if she came up early in the morning she could generally find some solitude.

So she sat cross-legged on the roof simply breathing

River had woken early and Berthold's sniffling had made it impossible for her to fall asleep again. So she had made herself a cup of tea in the kitchen and picked up some cookies, and then walked up on to the roof. Quietly she sat down next to Cassandra.

Some time was spent in silence before Cassandra turned to look at her friend. "Good trip?"

River smiled and nodded, then held offered Cassandra her cup of tea. She didn't mind sharing. She also held out a cookie for her friend.

Cassandra wasn't the sort to turn down either offer so she took a bite of the cookie and a sip of tea and grinned over at River.

The cookie was a chili and cinnamon one - not too strange by River's standards. River crossed her legs too. "Not stolen by angels?"

The cookies is considered before being placed on her knee. She might finish it later. Maybe.

She shook her head, "Stayed here."

"Good choice." Not that angelic abductions had happened by choice.

Cassandra nodded in agreement. She hadn't been pleased being under constant threat, but it had been better than being pulled back in time.

"Anything happen on Serenity?"

"Was quiet. I danced on the railings." She smiled at Cassandra at the mention of their common interest.

A soft smile settled across Cassandra's face. "Sounds fun."

"It was." River took a bite of her cookie.

Cassandra sipped some more of River's tea before deciding, "We should try here."

"Good way to start the day," River agreed.

A moment to think, then Cassandra nods toward the door. "The stairs have railings."

"All the way down," River said with a grin.

Sliding to her feet in a smooth movement, Cassandra smirked at River and held out a hand. "Shall we?"
