Never mind that Anders only has classes on Mondays and Tuesdays, or that spring break isn't all that far away. He and Bridge have decided that school is stressful (yo), and that this definitely calls for a vacation. Of sorts

Anders didn't move or make any sign that he'd noticed a newcomer.
"Dear fellow Fandom High student," he said in a calm, cheerful sort of monotone (as cheerful as a monotone could get), "it's nice to hear from you while I'm on vacation. I hope it's a nice evening back on the island. Here in Barbados it's warm and sunny and I'm having a fantastic time relaxing on the beach. Wish you were here! From Anders."
From behind the sunglasses it wasn't too obvious that Anders was actually squinting into the darkness to get a better look at who was talking to him, but now he recognized the boy from Bart's memorial service.
"Dear Karal," he said in the same cheery monotone, "I'm doing great. Vacation is really relaxing, did you know that? I'll bring you a seashell from the beach when I get back! From, Anders."
Anders still made no sign of having noticed the gesture. "Dear Karal," he said, "it's kinda flattering to know people wish we were home, but we aren't scheduled to get back for another week. After Barbados we're swinging by Mars before we go home. We'll send another postcard from there. From, Anders."
"Dear Karal," Anders said, unperturbed, "The only jumping I plan to do is into the water when we go scuba diving. I hear the coral reefs here in Barbados are fantastic. There's caves and underground lakes too, and hopefully we'll get to those before we go, but right now tanning on the beach is just fine. From, Anders."
"Dear Karal," Bridge says, in a tone much like Anders'. "I hope your library shift went well today. There isn't a library here on the beach in Barbados, but the weather absolutely makes up for that unfortunate lack. From, Bridge."
"Dear Karal: The weather here is far more than 'all right'. In fact, I'm pretty sure I haven't seen a cloud in the sky since we arrived. If only you were here to see it. Oh well. We'll be sure to take lots of pictures. From, Bridge."
"Dear Karal: I'm having *lots* of fun here, don't worry! In fact, Anders says tomorrow we're going scuba diving, and I'm pretty excited for that. From, Bridge."
When he saw he wasn't the only one up there, he waved a greeting. "Good evening."
