After hearing about Jim and his very exciting Homecoming date -- which she was totally okay with, really -- Pam didn't feel like doing much of anything

Irulan had a book with her and decided to search out for coffee.

[keds_champion]

"You can't sleep either?" Pam asked, smiling a little.

[irulan_atreides]

Irulan smiled, "Yes, I thought to finish reading my book." She raised a copy of 'Empires through the Ages'. "Yourself?"

[keds_champion]

"Not really tired," she said vaguely. "Are you going to Homecoming tomorrow?"

[irulan_atreides]

Irulan nodded, "I shall attend but again, I think I shall be in the sidelines since I do not have a 'date'."

There was something weird saying 'date', in her time there was no dating just: 'Meet so-and-so and by the way, he's your future husband' sort of thing.

[keds_champion]

"I just got one," Pam said, looking a little smug at that. "But there's nothing wrong with going alone."

[irulan_atreides]

"That's good for you!" Irulan said, suppressing the slight twinge of envy, "I suppose it is better I do not have a hate, else my Father would look too harshly on him. I think he has prospects for my soon-to-be husband."

Pam made a face. "Ew, arranged marriage."

[irulan_atreides]

Irulan let out a small laugh, "I suppose, yes, to other cultures it would be. Enough about me, tell me about your man!"

[keds_champion]

"He's not," she said, shaking her head. "I don't even really know him. We just decided to go because...I kind of wanted a date."

[irulan_atreides]

"Oh," Irulan frowned, "but you like this date of yours?"

[keds_champion]

"He seems nice," she said, shrugging.

[irulan_atreides]

"Well, if you think so then." Irulan said, trusting her judgement. "I just hope we both enjoy the homecoming."

She offered Pam the handwavy coffee she was making. "Here, it is not too sweet but I think it will help us."
