Fifth floor common room - Friday afternoon

Jul 06, 2007 14:12

Raphael was finally awake and in the common room. He supposed he'd have to adjust his schedule to start doing the whole 'going to class' thing again, but who really cared for now? He certainly didn't. If Namine or Donnie needed him they could knock, same with anyone else, and Mikey was always with him ( Read more... )

Willow was in a common room sort of mood. "Hello! Mind company?"

Raph glanced over at Willow and gave her a shrug. "Free common room, right? Be my guest."

"Thanks." Willow took a seat on the couch. "My name's Willow. Nice to meet you."

"Raphael... Just 'Raph', is fine." He thought a moment. "Uh, nice t'meet you too, Willow." He guessed, anyway. Meeting new people was as much a 'fandom thing' to him as Mikey getting de-mutated.

"I realize we've only just met and that this might be somewhat forward of me," Willow said, "but would you mind if I asked you a question in relation to your species?"

He cocked an eyebrow and shrugged. "Why the hell not? Go ahead, shoot." This oughta be good.

"Do you have any suggestions for a young, non-English speaking turtle with ambition?" Willow asked. "Unrelated to the mining industry, which we've already covered? Oh! And sign carrying."

Raph's immediate reaction to this question was to stare. Stare and gape, in fact. "Uh..? Come again?"

He figured 'What the hell are you talkin' about?' would be a little rude, even for him. At least on a first meeting.

"I have this friend," Willow said. "Shelby? He's a box turtle. They're on the endangered side so I've been trying to find really good employment options for him so that way people could look at him and say 'Oh! Box turtles are very useful! Let's make sure we stop killing them!' Only so far it's just been the mining industry and sign carrying. So I thought maybe you'd have some suggestions."

He cocked an eyebrow at Willow. "Is this box turtle a four-footed turtle, or walkin' up on two legs?"

This was so not his thing, but hell, he was curious to find out what turtle Willow was talking about.

To himself, Raphael now thought he understood how it was so easy for his other brothers to get along at Fandom. There were a ton of cute girls and other people for Mikey to pester, and out of those same people, about a million questions for Donnie to answer.

Heaven for them, he was sure.

"Four footed," Willow said. And, because she had Narnia residents to compare to as well, she added, "Normal turtle size. As far as I can tell he just speaks Turtle. Which unfortunately I don't. As you might imagine, this does interfere with the brainstorming process."

Raph gave Willow an utterly bemused look. "...Ever think of just startin' a club? 'Box turtle awareness', or somethin' like that?"

"Attack the problem from the outside, you mean?" Willow asked. "Show how box turtles are already wonderful, no job needed?"

He blinked, then shrugged. "Uh.. Yeah, I guess. Just like that." Sounded good to him, anyway. He didn't know a damn thing about turtles outside the mutated variety.

"I can do that," Willow said with a firm nod. "I'm already doing it for the witch thing and the Jewish thing. I can do it on behalf of a turtle buddy."

Raph nodded to her sort of vaguely. "Well... You do that, then. I'm... sure you're turtle friend will appreciate the effort."

This girl. She was cute, but so confusing. He somehow got a feeling she'd get along really well with Donnie.
