Jackalope Campfire, Tuesday Evening

Handouts needed to be written!  Posters needed to be made!  John gathered the snack food and art supplies that he'd handwavily obtained after work, and carried it all out to the campfire.  Hopefully, people would stop by to help him, or just to pass the time while he worked.

Alec had free food radar and so was outside quite shortly. "Hey, John. Anything happen while I was gone?"

"Hey Alec! Nope, nothing interesting, really." John gestured to the random snacks by the fire, "Want some snacks?"

"Food would most definitely be appreciated," Alec said, taking a bag of chips with a grin and sitting down. "So whatcha up to?"

[missed_the_gate]

"I'm making posters for flag football." He grinned, "Molly and I wanted to give the cheerleaders something to cheer for."

"What's flag football? I mean, not that it matters much what I'm cheering for, but I'm curious," he said, fishing out a handful of chips.

[missed_the_gate]

John realized he's going to have to get good at explaining this sport to people. "Flag football is like regular football in that there's a ball and two teams and the goal is to move the ball from one end of the field to the other. But, instead of tackling the player with the ball, you steal the flag that hangs from their waist to stop them."

Alec pondered that a moment. "So it's just football without the pounding each other into the ground?"

[missed_the_gate]

John nodded, "Basically, yeah. We wanted everyone to be able to play and not worry about getting really hurt."

"So you took all the fun out of it?" Alec joked, grinning.

[missed_the_gate]

John smirked, "Yes. Yes we did. But it was for a good cause."

"Sounds kind of tame," Alec said, still teasing. "I'll stick to cheerleading, I guess."

[missed_the_gate]

"Well, that's your choice," John replied. "I'm looking forward to being the reason you cheerleaders are jumping."

"And I'll just be one of the cheerleaders, helping the girls to jump," Alec said, grinning. "So how's the thing with Ronan, by the way?"

[missed_the_gate]

John leaned back, "I'm not really sure, to tell you the truth." He looked pointedly at Alec, "We keep almost talking about it, but something always seems to come up."

Alec snorted. "Probably better get that out of the way," he said. "Before things get taken for granted and feelings are hurt."

John nodded, "Yup, that would be good, not that I've seen him around today."

John thought it would be a good time for a change in topic, "Where did you go, anyway?"
